June 13, 201015 yr I've been away from FS for a while...when last heard from I was running FSX under Win XP. Then I upgraded, getting a system designed to run FSX efficiently. I installed FSX and both service packs, and it seems to work--except that I have some view problems. I've found them on the Ultralight, the Cessna 172, and the Beechcraft Baron, so I assume there are similar problems with other aircraft.:In Cockpit View mode the instruments (at least) are distorted horizontally. It's a wide screen monitor, and I can fix the distortion by getting out of full screen mode, but then my busy desktop is visible around the edges of FSX. Also, the hat switch on my yoke doesn't pan. It snaps to the view.In Virtual Cockpit view the distortion is gone and the hat switch pans the view, but the instruments are not as bright/visible as in the Cockpit view.In both views I'm having problems with viewpoint. I can't go back far enough to see the full panel plus the full windshield. (I was able to do so on my old system). It seems that the seat back gets in the way! In the Baron, when I advance the throttle the viewpoint goes back so that all I can see is the back of the seat.I have the same problems at a variety of display resolutions. Can you folks help? Here's the configuration:
June 14, 201015 yr May I assume you have enabled widescreen in your fsx.cfg file? WideViewAspect=TrueLocated here........C:\Users\(your name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSXThat may help your view issue. The instruments in FSX will not be as sharp in Virtual Cockpit as the 2D view unless you move your Global Textures slider to a very high setting.
June 14, 201015 yr Author Hey Greystone! I believe you have solved the problem! No time for an exhaustive check, but a quick check shows that the viewpoint positioning problem is fixed. Thanks!Barney
