November 22, 201015 yr Hey guys great thread. I am going to try a couple of things above , but my issue is a little different; I did a clean install of Win 7 Pro 32-bit. I re-installed FS9 and immediately crashed at FS startup with a BSOD memory dump. I added Administrator rights, compatibility with Win XP, installed in a different directory, etc. to no avail. So I reinstalled using default file paths, did not update to 9.1, did not install FSInn or SB. After running the fs9.exe, the sim worked well for a few days. I added SquawkBox4 and conducted an online flight and everything worked well. 2 days later I tried to fly again and the sim did the same thing; at splash the screen went black and immediately repeated the same BSOD/memory dump. I have yet to get it to start since then. My drivers are current and clean. I updated my PC to 2GB RAM for the OS upgrade, (old Gateway System) I'm running a ATI Radeon 9250 Graphics Card, 2.4 ghz P4 processor. I previously ran XP SP3 before the OS upgrade and FS9 ran fine except a low frame rate due to my previous RAM. Win7 is a great system and I don't want to downgrade for FS. I will try the items above that I haven't done, but it strikes me as funny that FS9 worked well for several days, and then crashed again. No updates were downloaded in that time frame. I added an additional pc to my wireless network which has no bearing on my FS pc. Any insights? I will update this week when I go through the steps above. Thanks.
November 27, 201015 yr Author I apologize for not updating this earlier. I have switchedMy 5870 for a gtx480 and no more bsods. I can report over three months of error free flying. Could it be the 5870 is a bottleneck with bp=0 settings?
November 28, 201015 yr I apologize for not updating this earlier. I have switchedMy 5870 for a gtx480 and no more bsods. I can report over three months of error free flying. Could it be the 5870 is a bottleneck with bp=0 settings? Not sure about that, but on my Windows 7 Compatibility Checker is telling me that my ATI Radeon 9250 Graphics Card is not compatible with windows 7. Funny that it worked for those few days before BSODing again. Now nothing. I am limited on Video Card options because of my older system. I need a PCI Bus card that is Win 7 compatible. Seems that Fry's only has 1 and it's unavailable or out of stock. That may solve my issues if I can find one. Thanks for updating. maybe something else will come up. It would appear that AMD/ATI may not be keeping up. Is your GFX480 PCI/BUS? Who makes it?
