New grrphics card

Featured Replies

Hi all I'm after some advice. I'm looking to upgrade my PC and I'm thinking that the GPU could be better. I'm currently running a Q6600, (700W Thermaltake tower liquid cooled) with 4GB RAM and a 8800GTX. I still use FS9 but I'm looking to get better FPS so I can play FSX with better graphics settings. What would you suggest, I've looked at the GTX480 or ATI 5970. I've read all reports and I think that the Nvidia seems better but I'm after a second opinion. Many thnkas in advance. Jez Smith

The GTX 480 is hands-down the fastest graphics card for FSX today.

Thank you, that's my mind made up. Cheers, Jez.

Can someone please confirm the dimensions of this card. I've read on Amazon.co.uk, (Zortac GTX 480) that it's 33 x 25.4 x 6.4 cm but the width seems huge and won't fit in my case!

my EVGA480 is close to 27cm (10-5/8") long. That would likely be your 25.4 dimension. It take two slots and that would be your 6.4 dimension. The other dimension (height above the mother) might vary a bit. The 480 has heat pipes and is a bit "wider" that those without. Not much (a couple cm) but might be enough to be tight in some small cases. Definately need to get the correct manuf. dimensions and double check things.
