new to the md-11 and addon aircraft

Featured Replies

Hi alljust bought the md-11 as my first addon aircraft for fsx as i've been interested with the md-11 since my younger years as the planes looked and flew superbly my only flight in one was when i was six flying to amsterdam but from what i remember it was probably the smoothest flight i've been on. The PMDG aircraft looks and feels like a treat to fly so congrats and thanks to the develeper's, although i've only managed to get to flight level 370 in the tutorial the transition and take off seemed to be on of the smoothest i've flown in fsx.I was wondering once i'd completed the tutorial flight to zurich how would i create my own flight and add it into the fmc? would i enter the given fuel loads and from/to aircraft, flight level and fuel as per int he tutorial then select the given waypoints in the flight plan or would it be something more complex? just wanting to try a few shorthaul flights, etc london to edigborough, manchester to charles de gaul etc to get used to the fmc and plane proper. Also wondering if i were to do a bog standard flight like i would in fsx, e.g follow a pre determined flight route by the atc say for instance leeds - amsterdam following the ifr headings the atc controller gives to me, would it be possible to dial the headings and altittude in ala the default airbus's and boeing 737 or would it be slightly more complex to do as im wanting to also learn manual take offs and landings and manual flight aside from the autoflight given by the fmc. Thanks

FSX Crash test dummy!

Well, most flying these days is done by the FMS. If you are totally new to FMCs and stuff like that, I really advise you learn and read the manual. It's pretty complex thing, but when mastered - it's irreplaceable. Also here comes a glitch; if you're flying via Vatsim network, you'll probably need to feed the FMC with newest navdata (so called AIRACs), which can be found here: http://www.navigraph.com/www/fmsdata.asp (it costs).
