  1. Hey, just a quick question I have upgraded to P3D V4 from FSX:SE and I am wondering is the level D 767 compatible with V4 yet? Also as someone who has various PMDG products on FSX the only one I could afford right now is the 737, are there any decent long haul birds with a fairly in depth system modelling in the $60 - 70 range at all? I were looking at the ifly 747 but not sure how that stacks up? Thanks your help guys
  2. That is no problems, I don't have an issue with doing anything manually, at the end of the day better to know how to use it properly and not be in bother than be in bother and not know what to do. I don't plan on doing many etops flights yet with the ngx, more than likely a few short hops to get used to the fmc and handle of the aircraft, I plan on supplementing both tutorials with Youtube video's as well before setting out on my first maiden flight. Thanks for the responses guys :)
  3. Hey all, just a quick query, having done a fair few flights using the 777 both for long haul/short haul, I'm looking at getting used to the 737 for short haul hops, seems a waste using all that fuel in the 777 for the sake of an hour or two. Now having briefly glanced at the first tutorial for the 737 it appears that setting up the 737 is more or less identical to the 777 which makes transitioning easier, however I have noticed that the triple 7 has the ability to load a flight plan directly which I aren't sure if that is the case with 737?. Any other subtle changes or differences I should be aware of? Thanks in advance guys.
  4. Cheers for the info guys, I've purchased the captain sim's version however I'm wondering is there a flight tutorial of any kind, unfortunately I'm unable to find anything that resembles one, unless I'm missing something.
  5. I'm reading reviews on both versions of the Tri star ls1011 and I'm fairly undecided into which one to choose? I've heard the Jf's version also features a FMC is that case with Captain sims too? Overall any 1011 pilots have any thoughts on the aircraft?
  6. That's certainly a worry of mine, given how people can either appreciate or undermine the simulator based on opinions. I appreciate that doing a 30+ degree bank of the aircraft or a 1000+ fpm descent/climb is suicidal and stupid where as in the sim it'd have no consequence, however for the core concepts such as check-lists and familiarising myself with the local area it's certainly going to be a start. I'm looking at the Cherokee however it'll probably have to wait until next pay day sadly. Thanks for help and tips.
  7. Thanks guys, I've ended up purchasing the Cessna 182.
  8. Wonderig if you guys could help, I'm looking at starting flying lessons, with a view to getting a private pilots license. My question is, which payware aircraft would be the perfect starting point to get familiar with the flight aspect and procedures needed? Cheers

  10. Thanks for all the heads up and help; Kyle, Dan and Simon. Guess I aren't nearly as well versed as I thought I were. I've been able to do a few easier routes; I.e London to Manchester and Amsterdam to Rome, I've noticed the FMC has correctly vectored for the final approach so I assumed the same would be for JFK. Probably explains why my passengers were swimming earlier than anticipated. The help as always is appreciated, at least in my aimless flying/crashing and diverting I've figured out some of the more intricate aspects of the triple 777.
  11. Thanks guys, I've been back through the tutorial to have a look at anything I will have missed, in regards to the vectors into JFK using the Robber1 star, I've noticed in the FMC, I will fly; over and away from the airport then track back around onto final approach for runway 04L. Is that what is meant by Vectoring?. Thanks
  12. Hey, I'm currently 507 nm out from JFK, managed to take off from Heathrow, keep my triple 777 in the sky during heavy turbalance (ASN - was the most tense 5 minutes I've had) and perform a fuel dump for the first time. I'm using the last leg of the cruise to check over the approach chart to JFK, I admit it's the first time using one, however I get the jist of it and I've entered the correcg height restrictions and speeds into the FMS. I'm guessing the fmc alter course and tracks as necessary or is this something as the pilot I should do? I've done the tutorial autoland, however as I am lookig to dive deeper into the craft I'm getting a little tetchy with reading a chart. I've flown a couple with GA aircraft that have required my inputs to manage and capture the glidescope, however I have never attempted this within a jet liner. If the FMC does indeed manage the necessary tracks then it's a huge decrease in my work load, however if it is something I have to manually do, what would be the best way to do so given the size and speeds involved? May seem like a simple question with a simple answer but I want to cover all bases. Thanks
  13. Ahh brilliant thank you, thought I'd messed the installation up at some point.
  14. I have an odd issue that's occurring in FSX:SE, I have all of the FSX Pmdg addons, a boxed copy of FSX and The steam edition. I held off installing the steam edition due to reports of PMDG aircraft not working within the game. Upon reading that they are now supported within the steam edition - I did a full uninstall and re install of the steam edition, updates the SDK for sim connect and installed the 777. It seems odd but upon starting fsx:se I'm asked for the permissions for the 777, but no activation prompt window unlike the previous boxed edition I had installed. Starting up at Heathrow the 777 initialises and everything appears to be working as normal, no anomalies at all. The question is, is it possible that with a previous activated copy, the 777 doesn't require activation with steam or is this something I have missed by not reading the forums?
  15. Thanks for the help guys, I've been back through the first tutorial and I'm working through the second, missed my approach into Innsbrook so I've had to go back through the FMC to re-program a go around route - Whilst I haven't actually landed the aircraft yet, doing so has helped me to understand the FMC better. I've had a look at and will be purchasing the TOPCAT software shortly - Thanks for the suggestion!.
