March 7, 201115 yr Not sure if this should go here but I've recently watched the video for the VOR into Zurich runway 34, approach by Angle of Attack, however when attempting this in FSX, I’m running across a slight problem. When i enter the BLM1Z Star and VORD34 approach into the MCDU and insert it, the flight plan has BLM at an alttitude of 12000FT and Gipol at an alttitude of roughly 130363FT i was wondering when pressing the insert button is it advised to press the corresponding RSK next to Gipol to insert that into the FMS or return to the Flight PLan page? Many ThanksLewis Lewis Tandy FSX Crash test dummy!
March 7, 201115 yr What is the rest of your flight plan? STAR BML1Z is an Arrival that gets you from BLM to the approach point GIPOL, you then take the appropriate approach from GIPOL to the currently active runway. The question is how you got to BLM in the first place. If you were not coming from the north or west, then it would not be unreasonable to reach GIPOL at FL130 or more, descend to leave BLM at FL120 and arrive back at GIPOL at 7,000ft ready to hold or continue your approach. When you set your STAR and Approach in the FMS, remember to set your transition as GIPOL and to clear any discontinuities. Paul Smith.
