Relocating an island with SbuilderX

Featured Replies

Hi guys,I'm trying to relocate a small island to the west of Puerto Rico called Desecheo. Apparently the island was misplaced in the default scenery. I'm trying to use SbuilderX v3.13 to do the job but I'm having problems with it. For some reason the option "set as a hole" for polys is not working and it remains on after selecting the parent hydro poly. Is it a bug? Thanks!Jay

Hola Jay,How's everything? Pretty hot in the Big Apple, isn't it?Make sure that you are in Polygon mode when trying to make holes, otherwise it won't work.Best regards.Luis

Hola Luis,Thanks for your help, it fixed the problem. Now I got this other problem!

:( That's funny, looks like some new ploy to keep the yolas off! Not a bad idea.Perhaps you have not extended the hydro polygon all the way to the limits of the QMID grid. Once you exclude the default hydro polygon and draw a new one, it should cover as much as the original. Unfortunately, you have that Centro Puntas/Aguada land right on the limit so you will probably have to take that into account for your new hydro polygon.Just a reminder for anybody else who may be reading. The Flight Simulator world is completely land! There is only water if a hydro polygon is covering the underlying land. When drawing a new hydro polygon, the default is first excluded and the new must cover the same amount of area as the default or else the underlying land will display.Best regards.Luis

Hey Luis, did you miss the news from DHS (Homeland Security) about a new initiative to stop illegal immigration and smuggling? Yeah, I was trying to simulate it! :( So seriously, do I have to retrace the hydro poly around the coast line of the default scenery to fix the problem?

Those bright guys at Fatherland Security are always coming up with something new. Just wish they'd change the name.By the way, I made the radar balloon (tethered aerostat radar) that is floating at 15000 feet above the southern part of the island:It won't keep the yolas off, though; nothing can keep them away.Tried looking for the balloon in Google Earth since airplanes in flight have also been spotted, but could not see it. But, the launch area and tether are visible:But, back to our own business. When you draw the new hydro polygon, you must be sure to extend it all the way to where the old ones were. You can see on the following image that these 4 points are crucial. You should extend all the way to the corner points to ensure that the new hydro polygon does not allow land to show, and the other 2 points show where the new drawing of that small bit of land should meet the adjacent land. You can get the points by loading the default cvx file in TMFViewer (cvx3025, as you know).Best regards.Luis

That blimp is cool. I heard a lot of theories about it, one says that is a radar to detect UFO in Lajas!Ok, I extended the hydro poly which fixes the part of problem but now I gonna have to actually modify the poly to follow the the coast line on the black rectangle, right?Else, that little chunck of Rincon will be submerged in water. I mean the two grids to the left where you placed the arrows.

Absolutely, Jay. You can just display a background image from Google Earth or Microsoft Live Virtual Earth (or whatever they are calling it nowadays) and trace that little bit of Rinc

Thanks Luis for your help. I must admit it was too much work for a tiny piece of land but at the end, I can see the mesh showing up unlike before.
