July 3, 201015 yr Easy first question about FS-Recorder:Is there a forum here at AVSIM or at Flightsim for the FS-Recorder addon?I looked and couldn't see it, but I may have missed it. I know there is one at the FS-Recorder site, but I am waiting to get my registration approved before being allowed to post there. That may or may not happen.Second question:I did a test flight recording using TrackerIr and this didn't work as the recording turned black when I would move my head to the left or right when replaying. Also tried to record the set up of the FMC in the PMDG 737 starting out with a C&D flight deck. On playing the recording, all I could see was the panel lit up but no FMC as I changed windows nor any programming being done. So what are the limitations using FS-Recorder? Does one need to pause the recording and change views before continuing the recording? Some good suggestions would be appreciated. Also, since the recording is not done in a video or Windows Movie Maker type file, I assume that any recordings must be re-recorded using another program so that it can be shared. Is that so?Thanks again for any help.Jim D.P.S. I'm not in a position to spend extra money right now as I have been hit with unemployment status and the suspention of extended U.I. So extra add-ons that are payware are not an option for the time being.
July 4, 201015 yr No seperate FS Recorder forum on Avsim AFAIK.FS Recorder doesn't record stuff for Windows Movie Maker, it records for internal FS9 or FSX use only. You can playback inside FS and not "for" an external program. If you want to record it so you can make movie files for youtube or your own computer you need a different program that "steals" what you see on the screen, such as FRAPS or similar programs. You can download and use FRAPS for free, limited to one minute of recording at a time. You start up FSX, record to FS Recorder, fire up FRAPS and replay the FS recorder. Press the FRAPS hotkey for recording when you want to start recording, press it again to stop recording (read the FRAPS manual about that). FRAPS records what you see on your screen. You can then use, edit and move the clips you've recorded with FRAPS however you'd like in Movie Maker. Also, it doesn't record every single thing that's done in FS, you can select which things are recorded in the options menu inside the FS Recorder menu in FSX. That means it doesn't record FMS data or anything more advanced than lights or flaps or control inputs or whatnot. You'll probably even get some weird out of place callouts and altitude warnings with advanced planes like Wilco and PMDG. There's simply no telling what state the plane will load except for the exact factors that are recorded such as flaps, control stick inputs, lights etc.It' still WAY more advanced than the default FS playback and I prefer it by miles.

Can you use TrackIr with it? I tried it without good results.
July 4, 201015 yr Thanks for your reply. Can you use TrackIr with it? I tried it without good results.Sure you can, just play back the replay with FS recorder and choose VC view, press the FRAPS record button and it records what the screen shows, which ever way your head's pointing or moving. It's perhaps easier to explain it like this: Using FRAPS is sort of pointing a camcorder at your computer screen. Whatever the screen shows while you record, the FRAPS movie file will show.

FS-Recorder is good only if the recording is replayed and re-recorded with fraps or other recording program. What about using the free version of CamStudio?
July 5, 201015 yr Author Hello,http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtop...p;hl=FsrecorderRegards.Gus.Thanks Gus, I have read that thread before. I'll have to test FRAPS. I tried CamStudio Open Source, but the re-recording has the aircraft flashing rapidly on and off as well as flashing scenes that i didn't record with FS-Recorder. I don't know what is happening. And still no registration confirmation from the FS-Recorder site. Ah, so it goes.Jim D.
