Maybe this link will help: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925722.Best regards,Jim

my card's driver is updated, and microsoft really doesn't want to help me. I contacted alienware support, and they told me to contact microsoft. I contacted microsoft, and they told me to contact alienware support. I lose :( .

I have the exact same problem The screen goes black, but the sim is otherwise running just fine, apparently. A few times I have recovered by opening task manager and switching to FSX, but usually not. FSX is always shown running. Around the same time, I sometimes get another anomoly which is my airplane disappearing. It will just be gone, but, again, the sim seems to be running just fine. This is happening enough to really ruiin the hobby for me now. I am running FSX in Windows 7 and it doesn't matter what airplane I'm using. I am using the latest drivers with a GTX 480. CPU usage is low. EDIT: Check this out: http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=249782It does seem to be triggered by ALT+Enter for me. I can't lower my sound down to 8000, but I lowered it as far as it goes. Weird. Let's see if I have any improvements (although I used to bounce in and out of FSX all the time for screenshots). Other suspects are the combo of REX and ACtive Sky Evolution -- not sayin' but that's something different just before the problem started badly.

Perfect flight last night! I didn't ALT+Enter and had lowered my sound quality to the lowest (not that I could tell).

Awful flight tonight. Black screen, disappearing airplane, graphical glitches (among which was the non-appearance of the airport). I have to figure this out or I'm taking up model railroading. This sucks.
