July 14, 201015 yr Howdy all!I must say I've been having a miserable time with my new EVGA GTX 480. I finally found out what was wrong though.I'm using an Asus P6T SE motherboard, when I put my shiny new GTX 480 in it, everything quit working. Windows would freeze at the "welcome" screen, if it even got that far. Sometimes it would freeze during POST and sometimes it wouldn't even get that far.I thought it was my overclock causing problems, so I was in the BIOS re-setting things and it froze in there too.I had only had the card for 3 days so I called the store, they said they'd exchange it, instead of the hassle of RMA through EVGA. Turns out EVGA had a batch of GTX 480's with power issues and the motherboard is shutting itself down to protect itself. From what, I'm not sure, but something.I'm exchanging the card tomorrow, we'll see if that works. If not, I am gonna fly off the handle and break things. I hate it when stuff doesn't work. I put my GTX 285 back in and system works perfectly, put all overclock settings back, works fine. OCCT and LinX tests pass with temps under 80. 4.1 ghz on a i7 920.So if your new GTX 480 is causing the computer to freeze, it's something you could look into.Jeff Calder Jeff Calder
