Runway Issues

Featured Replies

What causes this problem (see picture)? (I'll do my best to discribe the problem) As I approach the runway to land I notice the runway surface starts to change as if something is surrounding my aircraft. As I land, I notice the runway immediately around my aircraft is either turning slightly darker or lighter. When I exit the runway, the markings on the exit ramp are erased by this problem and reappears once I pass through. When I enter the parking area, everything is fine again. However, if I start from this airport there's no problems with the taxiway or runway textures. It only happens when I land.I'm having this problem with PHNL from FSDT. I'm pretty sure it's not the scenery. It's beautiful scenery that at one time looked fine. I've added other sceneries since I initially installed it. Even after I remove all the scenery, except for PHNL, the problem is still there. I haven't made any FS9 setting changes. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, what did you do to fix it? It's really annoying to experience this after a long flight to Hawaii. Thanks,Mike Franks

Hey Mike,I'm no scenery expert or anything so you'll probably want to wait until someone with a bit more experience comes along to help, but all I van think of is that perhaps it has something to so with the particular aircraft you're using. Have you used this aircraft previously? Perhaps you do not have the latest drivers for your graphics card. Or possibly FS just inexpleciably messed up. Have you installed any new FS programs that could perhaps interfere with your scenery? You could also try reinstalling the scenery but I don't know how much time or effort that would require. Joe

Thanks Joe for the advice. I thought the same thing at first. I tried payware and default a/c and still got the same results. I even tried deleting all the scenery to see if it was bad scenery or a BGL. It occurred when I just used PHNL. As I mentioned, it worked at first and then one day while landing I noticed the problem with the runway texture. I don't recall changing any settings in FS9 or to the AFCAD. Also, I do not have a duplicate AFCAD installed.Mike Franks

I used to have this problem, most noticeably at KBOS. It was some sort of conflict I was having between my landing/taxi lights, George Grimshaw's freeware KBOS, FreeFlow New England, and some custom taxiway and runway textures I was using - something was bleeding through the scenery which shouldn't have been. I did some reordering in my scenery config and that seemed to help. I eventually also bought George's fantastic FS9 update to KBOS, and I haven't seen the problem since.I really hope this helps because I feel your pain!

Thanks Chuck. I didn't really think about the lights causing the problem. Although I have tried landing with the landing lights off, but that didn't change anything. I hope this annoying problem will eventually go away. So far it's just one airport, unfortunately, it's the best one.Mike Franks
