AS6.5 Wx sometimes incorrect...

Featured Replies

Hey all:I've read dozens of posts on here about some of you guys having problems with weather being old (data). However, I haven't found anyone who seems to have an aswer to why this started happening.I used to use FS Real World WX from flight-sim Jeppesen but it's become so unreliable it can sometimes be as much as 8hrs old. So I now I use AS6.5 and have tried numerous settings to get current weather to be continuous. Most of the time the weather is about 1 and 1/2 hours old to as much as 3 hrs old.I don't know what else to try to get the weather to be current. I can pull the weather reports from www.fltplan.com and let's say that KLGB has the current hours weather and forecast; however AS is not finding it so its using old weather. Does this make any sense.Flying is just not as fun as it used to be when the weather was correct on the dime and it was until just a few months ago and now its rare to get a decent weather download and forecast.Any of you guys have suggestions I can try. I've already called my ISP (Charter Communications) and they told me that no data is ever cached; and I also clear my computer cache as often as possible. I really need help. Please. Currently I just landed in KSMF and the temp was currently about 26C as stated by a weather.com and AS was telling me it was about 24C. When I pulled the metar from fltplan.com. I can work backwards and see that the weather is was using was almost 3 hours ago and the reported time was old as well.I don't know, I just can't seem to get this to work like it used to.Thanks for any help you can provide.Regards,Fletcher R.

Hi,Please help us out by posting a shot of the main AS screen and then your AS options screen and I'll be happy to take a look.It is quite normal for the data to be an hour behind and a 2 degree difference in temperatures between real METAR data and weather.com is not too unusual either. A better comparison would be with NOAA data.Get those shots posted when you get a chance and I'll take a look!

Hi Jim,Just been reading this thread .I have tried a comparison between ASX and NOAA this morning and both metar reports are identical. As i think that only one set of servers are used no matter which version of AS you are using, this would confirm that weather is being depicted as near as possible to current conditions.Norman Bowman

Hi:So here is a screen shot as of 0720PDT for KSMF. So, reading as what's been said already, a difference of an hour or 2 is not uncommon? Just asking is all. Thanks for any additional help.Fletcher R.P.S. I would think that there would be a 1353Z update applied.

Hi,At 14:16Z, the 14Z weather is not ready yet to be used by AS. So your 13 Z weather is as up to date as it can get. In this case it looks like data is out of date but it is not.For ASv6.5 the data is collected by the servers at the top of each hour, then it takes about 20 minutes for that data to be ready. So depending on your download interval in AS, the data could be an hour old.

Ohhh, ok, I think I have the idea now. It just seems like its out of date sometimes. Like when I get to a certain city the real world weather says that it's clear and TSTMS have just passed and then a few minutes later the TSTMS that were to have already come through are just then starting. Just seems a little strange to me but I have some other tricks up my sleeve to possibly fix the situation. Thanks for the help Jim.Fletcher R
