Tinmouse Problems

Featured Replies

Hello,I recently started using the 737-200 and I enjoy this aircraft very much. Its level of visual realism and detail surpasses many payware aircraft I have seen. Unfortunately I'm having a great difficulty flying this bird. This includes 3 problems that I am having:-My altitude hold selector on the Sperry 77 A/P wont hold my altitude. This is not a "How do you use the autopilot question" because I believe what I am doing is right, but I could be wrong. I have much experience flying the old birds with similar autopilots such as the 707, 727, DC-8, and DC-9 aircraft. To get the altitude hold "engaged" I climb the aircraft manually to the altitude, and just upon reaching the altitude, I engage both the A&B autopilot switches, and then turn the knob to the "altitude hold". I do the same with the heading except unlike on the 727, the Tinmouse can have a pre-selected heading by turning the OBS knob on the compass and selecting "heading hold". The heading works but the altitude doesn't. I select a good trim angle, and good speed, as well as the flight director on the right setting, but still no luck! -My second issue I am having is that I find it impossible to control the speed on this aircraft! I use the saitek pro flight yoke and throttle and both levers are almost at idle, yet I'm travelling at over 250 KIAS! When I try to set the flaps for an approach, I am confronted with a loud "flaps overspeed warning" as I try to slow it down. I'm therefore forced to use the speedbrakes in flight to get it below 200 knots! Perhaps it is a problem with the saitek configuration or FSUIPC. -Finally, it seems that when I disengage the "heading mode" of the autopilot, the aircraft becomes extremely sensitive to my imputs on the control wheel, making it literally impossible to control, or to make small turns! I have seen this problem before in the FAQ but there was no answer for it. To whoever sees this thread, please help me! I love flying this airplane and Richard Probst did an amasing job creating this (for free!!) so it would be a shame if I couldn't fly it anymore. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you in advance. :( -Marco

MarcoFrom the manual:Autopilot System Select SwitchThe 737-200 has three hydraulic systems: A, B, and Standby. This switch selects the hydraulicsystem the autopilot and yaw damper uses. The ELEV channel only works when system B isselected. The AIL channel works with either mode.So select a/p system B. Check yaw damper is on. Both aileron and elevator chanels are on, then select Alt hold.Speed......sounds like your throttle needs calibrating. What are your engine readings when your throttle is at idle? Having said that you do need to plan ahead to slow down.Handling..... again this is a calibration issue. How are you calibrating the yoke ? FS9 controls or Saitec software, or FSUIPC ?Peter

Hi,I will make sure I follow these steps to get the altitude hold working, but I just have one question: what are the elevator channels and how do I switch them on? I know what the elevators are I just don't know what the "channels" are.I will also try calibarting my yoke & throttle in FSUIPC again, if you think it is a calibration issue.Thank You very much for your reply, I appreciate it!-Marco =)

MarcoOn the A/P panel there are two paddles which you need to click to engage. One is for roll control (aileron chanell) and one for pitch control (elevator chanell). If you only engage the aileron chanell you wont be able to use altitude hold. This is the same system as the Boeing 727 A/P. Peter

Hi Peter,Thank you for clarifying that for me. I know what yor talking about now. In fact, I always engage both of them when I use the autopilot. I will try everything you suggested to me and I'm sure it will work. Thank You.-Marco

Unslashed this in panel.cfg, now works. gauge02=B732ADV!systems, 1, 800, 1, 1           //invisible gauge
