Wrong Runways.

Hello,I've been using Radar contact for a couple of months now and this month started to use it on a new PC (with Win7, previous was WinXP).I have a few issues since I started using it on my new PC.First; for example, RC comes up with runways that totally not exist at certain airports. (Like runway 1R and runway 1L at EHAM).I don't use any add-on scenery at EHAM.Second; RC doesn't seem to understand where I am, as it doesn't hand me over to the tower when I'm taxiing to the runway at airports that do have the right runway numbers.I've tried to run Rebuild Scenery DB several times, and every time it just completes normally, but the problem is still there.Any of you know what I can do?Thanks in advance.Kind Regards,Olmo

If you did a reinstall of RC4 for Win 7 there are some things that might help.First update makerwys to at least 4.41 and FSUIPC from the links at the page top. The utilities with the RC4 distribution are outdated. These will need to be installed by you with admin rights and and the install .exes started with the run as administrator property set. While makerwys is listed for FS9 on the download page it is for FSX as well.Be sure FS is started with a shortcut that has its properties set to run as admin. This must be true for a shortcut to RC as well. You may have to run with admin rights as well. This insures proper communications for Windows 7 interprocess messaging and file access for both applications. Be sure you are logged in with admin rights especially when doing a scenery rebuild and that you specify each time the correct path for the version of FS as well. If you have a dual installation of RC, one for each version of FS, then insure you are running the correct version of RC and you specify the correct FS path for that version.Always run the scenery rebuild from within RC.To insure files got correctly transferred from the FS folder to RC's data folder check the date ans time properties of r5.csv in your FS folder and r4.csv in your RC4/data folder. They should be very close. In your RC4\data folder make a safe renamed backup copy of rc4.csv. Open r4,csv with Notepad and search for the entry lines for EHAM. Check out the runway listing on each line. The runway numbers are interpreted as followed from Pete Dowson's makerwys readme.txt file in your FS folder:"Rwy is nnn for runway number, then 0, 1=L, 2=R, 3=C, 4=W (water)" for the last digit. Here are my entries for EHAM Aerosoft's FS9 version from Scandanavian airport sceneries:EHAM,0011,52.301788,4.737310,-11,5.220,10812,108.75BDG,148,-2.000,52.316593,4.738672,1476,,EHAM,0012,52.290810,4.777342,-11,5.250,11134,110.30BG,148,-2.000,52.306057,4.778758,0,,EHAM,0040,52.300373,4.783465,-11,43.240,6619,0,148,-2.000,52.307198,4.793253,0,,EHAM,0060,52.287918,4.734125,-11,59.910,11429,110.55BDG,148,-2.000,52.296246,4.755839,820,,EHAM,0090,52.316643,4.746304,-11,88.800,11301,0,148,-2.000,52.317509,4.771619,0,,EHAM,0191,52.321304,4.780174,-11,185.250,11134,0,148,-2.000,52.306057,4.778758,1886,,EHAM,0192,52.331398,4.740035,-11,185.220,10812,109.50BG,148,-2.000,52.316593,4.738672,0,,EHAM,0220,52.314022,4.803041,-11,223.240,6619,109.15BDG,148,-2.000,52.307198,4.793253,0,,EHAM,0240,52.304573,4.777553,-11,239.910,11429,0,148,-2.000,52.296246,4.755839,0,,EHAM,0270,52.318375,4.796935,-11,268.800,11301,111.50BG,148,-2.000,52.317509,4.771619,0,,These interpret to 1L, 1R, 4, 6, 9, 19L, 19R, 22, 24, 27.From the makerwys log file for my FS9 default scenery it detects:Runway 1L/19R, Runway 1R/19L, Runway 9 /27, Runway 6 /24, Runway 4 /22Today's listing from Wikipedia EHAM at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EHAM :18R/36L 3,800 12,467 Asphalt06/24 3,500 11,483 Asphalt09/27 3,453 11,329 Asphalt18L/36R 3,400 11,155 Asphalt18C/36C 3,300 10,826 Asphalt04/22 2,014 6,608 AsphaltWhat you are experiencing here is real world runway number reassignment due to changes in magnetic deviation and/or added runways. Runway renumbering is difficult in FS9 and FSX. The FS default scenery is out of date. The two 1/19s became two pair of the 18/36s. A third runway was added. The rest match.Quoting from Wikipedia:"Schiphol has five main runways, plus one used mainly by general aviation aircraft. The northern end of the Polderbaan, the name of last runway to be constructed, is 7 km north of the control tower, causing lengthy taxi times (up to 20 min) to the terminal.[7] Plans have been made for a seventh runway."What I accented in italics is the added runway not shown in the FS9 and probably FSX default scenery. If you wish to look at an image of the default or added airport scenery runway layout in FS download ADE9X (free) from:http://www.scruffyduck.org.uk/filemanager/...4d43f5e4e82eb4b following the setup for FS9 or FSX as it applies for you.The first section of this response suggests setups to insure that RC knows where you are in the FS world and gets the right data extracted from your scenery. The second section explains differences from real/world data that I notice and how to see an image of the FS world airport.

Many thanks for your explanation! I now discovered the problem; I had everything running as administrator except for the latest version of Makerwys. And when you don't run makerwys as administratior, it apparently can't create the r5.csv file for RC.So now I ran it as Administrator and everything is fine! (FSX does have the update runway numbers for EHAM, btw).Again thanks for your quick reply! I can enjoy RC at it's best again :-).Kind Regards,Olmo
