August 1, 201015 yr Is there a way to remove or replace the ugly, perfectly straight edge rectangles that surround the runway? I'd like to have some kind of more irregular shaped airport areas. My experience so far is just editing the original airports with ILS, runway lighting etc. and placing some buildings. Thanx for any suggestions! :( George Fisher FS Economy - Gives You a Reason to Fly Virtually
August 3, 201015 yr Hello George,Airport backgrounds can easily be removed and replaced by more realistic shapes, even using an aerial image as a guide. You can use most scenery design tools for this purpose, and if you refer to FS X, then you can try either Jon Masterson's Airport Design Editor or Luis S Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!

August 4, 201015 yr Would I find that in a tutorial somewhere?Excellent question! Right here in the Avsim library are some tutorials for SBuilderX, done by Luis! This one deals with terrain related issues;http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=141643There are more available and all are highly recommended.Changing an airport background is a simple process in SBuilderX; make an exclusion polygon to remove the default, then make a new polygon in the shape you prefer. Or enabling the background imagery, you will be able to make the polygon in a "real world" shape. With a little practive the whole process takes very little time and you can be enjoying your work.
