August 10, 201015 yr Hello all,One thing I have noticed that has been lacking from any of the addons like REX or FEX is the sun shining through the clouds.See image below as an example:http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_r6DE4FFA-Mg/SNlfjhGeY2I/AAAAAAAAADE/oq0vTqb4two/s400/bright_sky.jpgYou can see some parts of the cloud is extremely bright because the sun is right behind it whereas other parts are darker.Any add-ons that can do this? Thoughts?

The lead developer explained to this forum that many things were cut from the original plan and left lying on the floor for future editions [which, of course, are not forthcoming because of the closure of the studio]. It was months after the simulator was released, that the same misleading pictures remained posted on a Microsoft website. Finally they were deleted. If any developers could work something out like that, I would "woof it up" with you in a heartbeat.
August 10, 201015 yr Author Interesting. Is this something that could be possible in the future from add-ons like REX or FEX or is the FSX engine simply incapable of something like this?
August 10, 201015 yr Interesting. Is this something that could be possible in the future from add-ons like REX or FEX or is the FSX engine simply incapable of something like this?I don't think it's possible because in order to make the sun shine throught the clouds you need 1. sunshine and 2. real 3D clouds. Afaik there is no sunshine in FSX (meaning there is no real source of light which illuminates everything) and there are no real clouds in FSX (afaik all clouds are flat as can be: they LOOK 3D but aren't: it's just the texture that makes them look real. That's also why you quite often see clouds with totally wrong lighting, like the sun coming from the bottom or from various angles and things like that). So I don't think this is going to happen anytime soon. (Correct me if I'm wrong! :( )
