I was going through the crossfire profiles on the AMD 11.6 beta CCC and noticed a profile for FSX and for Flight. I don't think I've noticed these before. I'm wondering if anyone else has seen these, and if so, how long have they been around? Have you noticed a difference when running these crossfire profiles?

Ok, I've tried that and I'm not getting any cross-fire action. So that is definitely not a fix for everyone. Any other ideas?

I have a really bad case of shimmering (mostly from trees in the distance) and VERY blocky shadows (no AA applied to shadows whatsoever.)I have set sharpening to maximum and I have checked the .cfg file to confirm 16x. I'm using an AMD 5970 card with the official 12.1 drivers (without the CAP1) and settings are on application controlled.I have tried forcing AA through the CCC but that did not change anything. Changed 'box' to 'wide effect' and 'edge effect' and did not notice any difference. Also changed from 'multi-sample' to 'super-sample' and no difference.Also, I find the ground textures to be VERY blurry when flying low, almost unacceptably so - but this could be working as intended.Anyone else having a similar experience?

Wow. I can not believe that thread was deleted. Suppression of free and open discussion, is this what Avsim stands for now? Tom (the admin), why would that thread be deleted after you have participated in it, and especially after you have said, in that same thread, that threads were not being deleted? I don't know if you deleted that thread yourself Tom, or if it was another mod, but either way...that's pretty bad.

Tom:I'm not saying anyone is removing any threads. But I do believe that many people have been put off by the closure of this forum, especially from the 'anti-flight' crowd hence the lack of criticism present since the forum re-opened. I'm surprised we don't have more activity than we do now... I would think there would be a lot more threads about flight's release. This is my impression.

I do understand how someone can take it that way, you don't deserve that so I apologize.My point is: the new policy for this forum is not conducive to an environment where people can come out and express how they really feel about this game. Otherwise, we would be seeing 10 threads knocking this game for every one that praises it. Most threads in this forum seem positive about the new release...and it looks very suspicious.

My feelings exactly. I have a lot of complaints to make...but fear the gestapo will be knocking on my door. This is what we have been reduced to in this forum, unfortunately.

Where is the Flight .cfg?

Let's not turn this into another Flight bashing thread. I understand that we are comparing apples and oranges, but I am curious to know what sort of technical improvements can we expect from Flight. For example, does Flight have 3D clouds? Cloud shadows? Light reflection on water? Different dawn/day/dusk skies? VC rain drops? What do we conclusively know so far?

Megascenery has autogen on top of photoscenery,I believe. Again, it has been a while.

It has been a while since I've had this add-on installed, but isn't Hawaii on FSX with Megascenery Hawaii superior to Flight Hawaii? Judging from the leaked videos that I have seen, I'd say yes - what then do I have to look forward to in flight that I don't already have?

My FSX crashed and I said 'never again'...and with Flight on the horizon, I never did think I'd be going back to FSX again.

About 2 months ago I completely uninstalled FSX from my computer and deleted all my add-on back-ups. This was done in preparation for MS Flight. Needless to say, I'm re-installing FSX and my add-ons all over again. I bought the PMDG 737NGX when it first came out, I found the email which contains the download link, but the link has expired. I went to the PMDG website and found that there is an extended download service - which completely dumbfounds me. Am I seriously required to fork over some more cash to be able to download the base pack again? I understand that bandwidth costs money, but $5 bucks worth?I really hope there is a grace period from time of purchase, as the NGX hasn't been out for all that long. Hi all, I was doing some cleaning and deleted a file apparently required by FSX to run. Whenever I run FSX now, I get this error "The MSXML4 SP2 component is not installed. Please reinstall Flight Simulator to restore or repair this missing component" Is there any way I can fix this problem without reinstalling FSX and all my add-ons? Thank you

Yes, thanks for funding Prepar3D for all of us non yanks. ;-)It really sounds like Prepar3D might be the next platform for serious simmers, as long as they make drastic changes to the code.

Jimmy and jallen, you folks should pay a visit to the avsim flight forum, people have become disenchanted with flight recently, some prominent individuals lost their confidence with MS.

Prepar3D isn't all that different from FSX, I don't understand the hype. People who have tested both products barely noticed a difference (unless you like to sim subs!). V1.2 release notes which was released only a few days ago was not impressive. Besides, FSX addons may not be fully functional when running them on Prepar3D.I was thinking more along the lines of an actual service pack for FSX.

Lately, I have been wondering why someone or a company like Aerosoft hasn't taken the initiative to develop FSX SP3, which would optimize the code to fully utilize latest hardware technologies, and address certain FSX design limitations, and then turn it around for profit? I would imagine this would be a huge cash crop. I'd be willing to drop at least $200 for that. Does that violate software protection laws? Would it still violate those laws if it was done for free? Any volunteers? :)
