patching holes

Featured Replies

I'm making my first aircraft model using gmax, and have a problem with holes left when doing boolean operations to cut out shapes such as flaps. Sometimes using the cap holes modifier works, other times it distorts the part. What I think that I want to do, is to manually patch the hole by selecting 3 vertices on the part where the hole is, and then create a triangle from these points & repeat until the hole is patched. But I can't see a way of doing this. For what its worth I can create a free standing polygon using the line tool, but then I have the problem of attaching that to my part (I can do this by using the attach control, but this leaves a gap between the part and the polygon). Maybe I'm just doing something wrong with the boolean operation. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

To "patch holes," you simply click on the polygon sub-level, then "Create" button. Select one vertex, then work your way counter-clockwise selecting the vertices around the "hole."
