August 22, 201015 yr Has anybody already used it and was able to export models to FSX or X-Plane?http://sketchup.google.com/intl/en/3dwh/buildingmaker.html
August 22, 201015 yr I have it installed, but have not gotten around to using it. My 3D skills are minimal, at best. But there is a separate Sketchup forum at FS Developer and Arno G.'s Model Converter X will work with the Sketchup output to create a FSX MDL file and convert textures.Well worth investigating, IMO. As my time frees up, I'll begin the task of making some simplistic scenery items. But having just typed that, the simplistic is due to the user (me!), not what Sketchup can do.
August 22, 201015 yr I have it installed...no, you mean Sketchup ;)Building maker works just online, where you align blocks to Google images, which makes it very easy to use.But you can only save it online and it will be published in Google Earth.Exporting Sketchup (Collada) to FSX via ModelConverter or to X-Plane via the Sketchup to X-Plane Plugin, should be no problem.
August 22, 201015 yr There is an excellent visual tutorial which was created by Tom Gibson (head man at ClaClassics) showing how to use Sketchup. You can view it here:http://www.calclassic.com/sketchup_tutorial.htmHe walks you thriough azll the required steps. I recommend saving a copy to your computer for future reference.Hope that info is useful.
