can't get 60hz refresh rate in win7

Featured Replies

Ever since switching over to win7 64bit professional, I am unable to get my monitor to display 60hz refresh rate. It always flashes back to 59. Why? I have latest drivers for nvidia 285gtx and have tried 2 separate 24" monitors, a dell, and hp. Is it an operating system bug?

Because the actual refresh rate is 59,94, and I believe Nvidia displays that as 59hz. 60hz is almost never used, since it causes unreliable stutters sometimes, as frames may be repeated. That's what I know about that...

The values 59.95 and 59.997 are correct and are AOK.You can force 60 in the nvidia control panel by creating a custom resolution and manually setting the freguency. But really won't make any difference.Where did you pick up this understanding '60hz is almost never used, since it causes unreliable stutters sometimes, as frames may be repeated'?

To be honest, I don't remember any more. I read lots of forums, discussions etc, jumping around on Google, and it must have left the impression on me.
