August 26, 201015 yr Hi all,I need some advice guys or girls.I fly fs9 only at the moment, i want to buy a new processor or a new vidcard. My system specs are;AMD Phenom x4-quadcore 9500 2.2 ghzAsus EAH ATI 4850 1GB Vidcard4 gb memory500 GB SATA harddiskMy fps drops at larger airports which is very annoying. My question what is the bottleneck, the card or my processor?Thnx for the help
August 27, 201015 yr Processor first. Can it be overclocked? What mobo you got?Concider a separate harddrive for FS only, should improve performance too. "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
August 31, 201015 yr As FS is extremely processor-dependent, the bottleneck is probably there. Most people will recommend Intel instead of AMD since FS seems to play nicer with Intel processors. Four cores is all FSX is capable of using, so I'd assume it's no better for FS9, but the speed seems a little low. Try overclocking the CPU if possible (and if you're comfortable doing so) and see if that helps. If not, what kind of budget do you have for upgrades? Mikef.k.a. tripod_todd
