  1. A cpu for a certain socket will not fit into a different socket.
  2. When you remove the cooler look at the pattern of the paste, it'll show if the seating was incorrect. Defaults would give you automatic setting og core voltage. Set manually.
  3. VOX-ATC could be what you're looking for. There would be a few liveries in the library to drape default ac with.
  4. Thanks for claryfying, gentlemen. There are so many opinions out there, I really appreciate a source reference, be it from hard core tech sites or personal experience. Good reading!
  5. Lol yes I did, was just looking for an explaination on your advice. And on behalf of OP thanks for elaborating on it. It's very interesting. Do you have a reference to your explaination on the distribution of information load across single stick vs. two, the latter being the faster option? 'Cause I'd really like to know more about my system.
  6. You´re most likely to get problems if you acquire a second stick, that is not matched with the one you´ve got. That means, in the factory, they pair up ram sticks i kits to ensure they´ll work together. Don´t see why you shouldn´t be able to run 8 gigz off a single stick. If you want more ram sticks you should get a new kit.
  7. I keep my Warty and my Saitek plugged separately, had issues that went away when I unplugged one. If that´ll go away in my new build and new updated fsuipc remains to be seen.
  8. Hi, Zish. Impossible to predict what your fps will be, to put it simply. Overclock the cpu all you can, whether it´s a TI or not will probably not make much difference. It´s more dependent on how high you can clock on your board. The chip is a great overclocker, and with stock cooling and if you can keep voltages low, you should be able to reach 4.2 ghz. But will probably be noisy. So, concider a good cooling solution, at least if you´re gonna clock higher. What add-ons (terrain, weather etc.) and what planes, and how many monitors will also influence fps.
  9. Curious, where did you read that one should wait with the overclock ´till after FSX install? Doesn´t quite make sense to me, since OC is set in BIOS, but I´d like to know the rationale. And congratz on a steady 30
  10. Also "cockpit view" without the cockpit is supposed to benefit from SLI, or at least not take a performance hit. So, if you build a cockpit and dont need the 3D pit, SLI for multi screen setup is a go. But not for "Traveling Uncle" Bren
  11. A 120 gigz worth of FSX (and always more to come) B), not too shabby. So, to keep SSD running fast with enough empty space, you're looking at a 256 GB volume. Price wise not out of reach for a mere mortal ^_^ Good idea to save for a decent rig, I started in late August or so last year, month by month acquiring bits and pieces. And along the way refining my choices.
  12. You're most welcome, Tony. Yes, FSX works in mysterious ways...
  13. FSX is also more realistically interactive with the "world" thanks to add-ons and native menus. It has a lot of entertaining missions for when you want to take a break from your own planned A to B flights. My reference is comparing to X-Plane 9. And concidering the vast ammount of add-ons and FSX users I'd say that FSX is dying a very slow death. In terms of flight dynamics X-Plane gives you a more realistic feel in small GA aircraft at least (the overall limits of my use in XP). Short version, must tuck in son :-)
  14. You will get many different answers ;-) if you're in a hurry get an i7 3750k or 3770k on a z77 board. I can recommend asus maximus v formula, very OC friendly setup. Get Flightsim on an SSD, eventually OS too.
  15. Try updating UT. Or reinstall/repair. If UT has a user interface see if there's an update option.
  16. Cant link to it directly, limitation of smartphone, but http://asn.aerosoft.com/?p=15060 have a link to our library.
  17. I prefer full screen, though there is a tweak in the library to minimize the width of the window edges.
  18. Yeah, the money pit... Keep the 460, got the same thing a little while longer, golden edition, 2 gigz though, good for multiple screens. Why not see how far you can go OC wise with the stock cooler?! Or if you want a cheap but very efficient and silent air cooler I can recommend Scythe Mugen II, perhaps there´s an even more recent edition. It is a tad big, but you can just offset the fan a bit to fit your ram, if they collide. And it´s not very heavy, won´t bend your board. The PSU could limit your OC, but you´ll have to see how it performs. OCCT has a PSU stress test, that will show if any of the lines underperform, if one of them do, your OC could get messed up. Once wasted a whole week of overclock attempts, because my 5 Volt line was not good enough. A new psu helped... On a tight budget you could dedicate an SSD to FSX, depending on amount of add-ons. An SSD likes to have approx. 25% of free space to function properly, so will 120ish gb be enough?
  19. Hi G. The 2700K gets pretty hot when overclocked as I recall, so the H60 water cooler will probably only just suffice, you can get air coolers somewhat cheaper that´ll do the same job. Go H80 in push-pull or even H100i if you want cooling that makes a difference under stress. What´s the rest of your hardware? PSU, GPU, HDD/SSD? Concider an SSD for at least your sim, if you don´t already have it.
  20. If it works you'll be glad to know, that your country holds an inexhaustable supply of flowers...
  21. If you google Sim Samurai and fsuipc guide you should find how to set up quad in fsuipc.
