Problems ith MD-11, FSX and Windows seven.....Weight Units

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,I have a little problem that has been annoying me. I have recently upgraded my system and have Windows 7 now. However being an Aussie, i use Kilograms for all my weight in the PMDG md-11 and 747.I can change the little drop box in the load manager to Kg, save and close, but when i go to the plane in Fsx it is still in Lbs. Also if i save and close in Kg's, and then straight away open the manager again, it has gone back to Lbs. If i go to the PMDG menu in FSX and change the units of measure to KGs, it shows in the aircraft as Kg's, but when i then try to load the fuel via the PMDG menu in FSX, It only lets me set it in Lbs.I can only assume the Fuel manager in fsx for the PMDG md-11 is connectd to the Load manager which seems to always revert to Lbs.Does anyone have a remedy?I think it may be connected to authority to change .cfg files or something.Cheers,Joshua Hick

Hi Joshua,I think that the Load Manager defaults to the Llbs setting every time it is opened.I use a program called Topcat instead of the load manager from the aircraft!Norman Bowman

Thanks for the replyTried loading fuel via topcat.Topcat states it has sent Fuel and payload sent to sim without error, but when i check the md-11 the fuel loads are the same as they were prior to asking topcat to change them.I really think its an authority thing with the aicraft .cfg or the fsx.cfg not being able to be edited by any programs. Surely there is an easy way to allow editing of files in the fsx folder. Im pretty sure that on the last computer i was running windows 7, i did all of Nick n's tweaks for windows 7 and i didnt have this problem. But im not sure which one it was that fixed it, and i dont want to use all his tweaks as my sim is working really well except this problem.

Hi Joshua,Just a reminder that full names are used in this forum!I have not had that problem as I use Topcat after I have loaded the aircraft.Norman Bowman

Hello Joshua. You've probably already done this but, just in case, have you turned User Account Control off or set FSX and Topcat to run as Administrator?Just a thoughtChris Stumbles

Hi guys,I have changed my user account control setting as they were on medium and did a restart. But still when i change lbs to kgs or add passengers in the Md-11 load manager, save to file then close, when i start it again the plane is empty and the units are back on lbs again. When i start the sim and try to send the fuela nd payload to the md-11 via topcat, it again does not change the fuel load despite topcat telling me it has sucessfully loaded the plane as requested.I still think its an issue with editing the aircraft .cfg or fsx.cfgJoshua Hick

Ok looks like it has fixed up now with the above changes, units are staying in kg's and payload is being sent via topcat successfully, but topcat is telling me i have to set fuel loads manually.Joshua Hick
