Saving a Flightplan

Featured Replies

Can anyone explain to me as to how I save a flightplan that I compile in the FMC? Not an imported flighplan, but one that I have inputted each waypoint,so that I can pull it back up for future flights.I thought by hitting the Copy Active in the Sec Flight Plan it'd be saved, but when I looked in the folder where the PMDG flightplans are stored,I could not locate it,e.g.YPPHFAJS001.rte,or OMDBEGCC001.rte,et al.Question is,where has that Copy Active gone,or alternatively, how can I save such a flightplan to pull later? I know I can do it with the 747-400,so I thought it'd be the same with the MD-11.Admittedly,I could be doing something wrong,so any help would be appreciated.

Hey Rick, In the MD-11 copying your active flightplan to the secondary flight plan screen does exactly that, it will only just make another copy of it. The way to save the flight plan is, after you create it click the REF button located just to the right of the SEC F-PLN button on the FMS, and on the bottom right of the menu you will see menu item that says SAVE F-PLN click the associated button and it should save your active F-PLN. After your F-PLN is saved all you have to do to use it for future flights is just type the DEP/ARR airports into the FROM/TO section of the INIT menu in the FMS and it will load any flight plans that you have made between those to airports.Hope this helps,Kevin W.

Brilliant Kevin. That was just what I wanted.I was beginning to despair that despite a good few views to my post, nobody had the answer.Once I manage to save such a flightplan,I am already adept at importing such a flightplan in to the relevant PMDG aircrafts' FMC.I just wanted guidance from where to proceed after cpying the Active Plan, which you have done superbly. Thanks
