AVSIM Report Function (Re-Post)

A few months ago I posted a tutorial on using the AVSIM report function, which is your direct link to moderators when something in the forums needs to be brought to our attention. Unfortunately, I goofed and forgot to tick the box that keep the post pinned, so here goes again.The three universal moderators here at AVSIM, Geof, David and myself (geofa, David_Roch, rightseater) combine to keep a watchful eye on the forums for just about every hour of the day. But sometimes life's obligations might cause the forums to go unmanned for a brief period, and there are so many forums and threads here that it is nearly impossible to scan them all with each visit we make to the forums. That's why we need AVSIM members to use the report function to help us keep the forums free of spam, personal attacks, and anything not conducive to the welcoming environment we strive to create for all readers. The process is quick, simple, and will alert the mods almost instantaneously. In my case, I have an e-mail sent to my iPhone whenever a report is made, and since the alarm goes off on my phone every time I get an e-mail, I am usually on the scene within minutes, that is unless I happen to be at FL350 at the time.......or sleeping.When something needs to be reported to the moderators, simply click on the "report" button below the member's info box next to the post you wish to report (figure 1-1). From there you will be taken to a screen that gives you the opportunity to describe the nature of the report (figure 1-2). Perhaps it is a spammer who needs to be shown the door, or maybe a thread got a little heated and needs to calm down a bit. Type in whatever you wish, and when you're done just hit the "Submit Report" button and it will be on it's way to us. You can report anything you wish, and the moderator(s) will recieve that report and take whatever action is necessary. It is quite possible that nothing will be done, as we have found that many threads tend to work themselves out without the need for moderator intervention. Other times you may not see any resolution for a period of time because the moderators are discussing the best course of action amongst ourselves. Either way, you can rest assured that when you make a report we will know about it soon after and handle the matter as we deem most appropriate.Figure 1-1Figure 1-2Even if you're not sure if a post violates the AVSIM Terms of Use, go ahead and report it if you wish. If the post is okay, then we will simply discard the report. Also, make sure to use the report function as your first course of action instead of contacting moderators directly. Sometimes one or more of us may be working or tending to life's other issues, or Geof might be eating a $100 hamburger and the issue could remain unattended to for too long, so it's best to just use the report function. We do not respond to the person making the report, nor does the alleged violator even know that a report has been made or by whom. It is completely confidential to everyone except the moderators. Please take advantage of this great feature of the forums and help us to keep AVSIM a welcoming environment for all.
