There are some great videos on YouTube that take you from startup all the way through shutdown. I don't have the links anymore, but Al (chock) sent them to me when I first got the C-130 and they were a huge help. The author walks you through every step at just the right speed so that you have time to take notes, but not so slow that you get bored watching it. Maybe Al can chime in with those links if he still has them.

Yes Bob, the "purveyors of nonsense" did win that battle. But to say the moderators are incapable of having resolved the issue is inaccurate. Cleaning up both of those threads was #4 on my list, right after helping two people who couldn't log in to their accounts and reporting an SQL error I've been getting when trying to use administrator tools. Tom was just faster than me that day, and decided to remove the whole thread, and I'm not about to argue with him over it. But these same "purveyors" won't win the war because from this point forward I won't be so nice. Not at this point, but in the future, YES. However, in order to do that, people need to stop quoting those "BS" posts, because that is why we can't bring the thread back. For every one bad post, there's ten people quoting it, which means removing it from every post in which it was quoted as well. I just took a look at the two threads discussing this aircraft and counted over 50 posts in two threads that would have to be edited. If people would stop quoting the nonsense posts, we would probably never have to remove a thread.

I'm not sure about anyone else, but I get better performance in full screen. I only use windowed when I'm adjusting settings in an aircraft.cfg, or checking CPU useage/temps.

You should be able to use the dropdown menu on the lower-left corner of the screen and choose between "AVSIM" and AVSIM mobile", at least that's what I'm seeing in both Android 2.3 and iOS.

Yep, the 760is does seem to be inferior in just about every way. I decided to go ahead and hook it up just to try it out, and I am not impressed. My H60 is far better, and so is my Mogul for that matter. It's back at the store now, and I'm just building my own. I'd highly recommend everyone to avoid this offering.

Hi all,I picked up a Thermaltake 760is and the adapter for the new socket for my new i7 2600K build, and I'm a bit confused as to why the manual wants me to route it the way it does. The manual says to run it through my HDD first, then on to the GPU, and then through the CPU. But that doesn't make sense to me. That would have the coolant entering the CPU block after collecting heat from the HDD and GPU blocks first. I would think that I should go through the CPU block first, while the coolant is at it's coolest point right out of the radiator. Am I wrong? Wouldn't it be best to have the CPU block receive the coolant while it's at it's coolest point? I don't normally question a manufacturer's manual, but this one just seemed odd to me. I'm sure I'm wrong, just looking for the explanation as to why.

Hi Rick,I have a 960 DO on an MSI Pro-e CrossfireX motherboard, and I have been thrilled with it since day one. It came stock at 3.2GhZ, which I swiftly knocked up to 4.5GhZ very stable. I was later told that I was stretching it to push for 4.5, but it has run very stable and cool for me under water. I even had it checked out Friday by AEM in Jacksonville just to make sure, and they confirmed with a 24 hour stress test (done due to unrelated restart issues) that my temps and stability are fantastic, especially given the big overclock for that CPU. However, as I am re-clocking my system due to having sent it back to stock for unrelated reasons, I have decided to stick with 4.0. It's not that I ever had any problem with 4.5, it's just that I never noticed enough of a difference between 4.0 and 4.5 on that particular rig. Most of the applications I use it for are more GPU dependant. However, I recently built an i7 2600 rig on an Asus board, and it is my opinion that it was well worth the extra cash. I just finished my first overclock to 4.5. If I had to choose, I'd keep the i7 2600 rig.@ Dazz,You might be interested to know that I got my restart issue figured out. It turned out to be a problem with the clock switch on the MSI board. One of the tabs had an issue where it's internal components was loose, and over a period of time vibration would cause it to move slightly. Still not sure why there was no BSOD or error message on startup, but I'm over it.

Yea, I was told that I was pushing my luck with 4.5. Most everyone suggested that I stick with 4.0, which is actually where I stopped for awhile. I didn't redo my OC today because I got caught up with other stuff, but when I do, I'll probably go to 4.0. As for noting the voltages, I know that now, but at the time I was completely clueless about any of this stuff. It took me a long time just to figure out how to adjust them because they were greyed out in BIOS. I wasn't even going to OC at all until Stephen gave me a little boost in the right direction. The H60 has been treating me very well. It does indeed keep the CPU plenty cool. Perhaps some other cooling I have contributes? I really wouldn't know. I'm still far from knowlegable about this stuff. But I have been working on building my new i7 2600 on an ASUS board, so I'm learning. Yea, I'll run Prime95 and post the voltages and temps when I OC again. Probably need more help when I get around to overclocking my new build too.

I don't recall. I just remember that I goofed up and put my Vcore to 1.5, and then realize what I did before restarting, and started at 1.2, bumped it to 1.35, and then brought it back down a bit. It was the first time I ever OCd anything other than a GPU, and I was pretty clueless.The waterblock system covers the GPUs, HHD, and both SSDs. And I have an enclosed water cooler (Corsair H60) for the CPU. There is an additional water cooler connected to the top of my case that goes to the motherboard, and has air tubes for the PSU and RAM. I also have two exhaust fans on top behind the cooler, two exhaust fans on the back, and the exhaust fan in the PSU, which is on the bottom of my rig, and two intake fans in the front, and four intake fans on the case door. I'll snap a picture later. My RAM is not overclocked. I wanted to, but every time I tried I would get an "overclock failed" error message on startup. The only way I was able to OC RAM was by using 1333, but I wanted to keep my 1600.

I check IOH through BIOS. I take a look after an extended load for a period of time, and also periodically when I check other temps. I've never seen it go above 60, and it has averaged 55. The hottest it ever showed was 60 after 12 hours of Prime95. I understand that MSI has software to monitor temps (one I think was mentioned in this thread), so I'll go get that as well.

Okay, then I'm off to my BIOS. Maybe I'll get lucky and won't have any of those weird restarts again. Maybe it was that power setting? Regardless, I don't like not being OCd. Once you get a taste, you can't go back to stock with a smile. By the way, hyperthreading on or off? I had it on before.

Maybe, I'll have to wait and see what they e-mail me. I don't know if he's going to tell me what each sensor corresponds to with SpeedFan, or just send me the list of sensors on my motherboard. Whether or not I'll understand it is yet to be seen, but I'm sure you guys will know what it all means. Here's the temps tab. I removed my second GPU when I went back to stock settings this morning, but there was never a temp problem with either one.Is it safe for me to reapply my OC settings and reinstall the second GPU? Crossfire with the 6990s is really amazing for apps it actually works with.

That is correct, the "remote temp" does not change at all. It stays at 72 no matter what I do. So that's a relief, though I don't know about "temp 2". That one does go up, but I don't know which temp it represents. I just got in touch with MSI tech support, and they are e-mailing me a list of what each temp sensor corresponds to, so that should help I'd think.Also, I have to make a correction from earlier. I was asked if I had my power settings set to high performance, and I said yes, but it turns out I was mistaken. I guess I got in a hurry and read it wrong, but it was set to "balanced". I have now set it to "high performance".

Well, I just sent my rig back to stock and removed one of the GPUs, and everytime I put even the smallest load on it, such as opening GMax, SpeedFan starts going crazy. The temps soar and everything gets a flame. However, it does not even come close to matching the temps I get from any of the cores in CoreTemp, nor are any readings in the ballpark of what BIOS tells me. Looking at SpeedFan's readings when I did that, I'd think I'd have to call the fire department and get out the burn cream, yet everything I touch in my case is cool to the touch, as indicated by other temp readings, such as from BIOS and CoreTemp.

Yep, but I am noticing a heat issue now that I installed and ran Speedfan. I left my computer on overnight, and when I woke up this morning I got this:Of course that flame next to "remote temp" sticks out, and "Temp2" had a flame until I restarted, but then started creeping up again. I don't know what either of those temps represent, but I'm sure a fire icon can't be good.*EDIT* I also noticed that neither of my SSDs show up. Are they not capable of displaying temps?*EDIT AGAIN* I also notice it's only showing two cores, whereas I have four. Perhaps I need to reinstall SpeedFan.

My UPS is about a month old, but I didn't have my computer plugged into it the first two restarts. In fact, the reason I bought it is because I thought the problem with the restarts was with the power in my house. I suppose it could be, but I have two other desktops that didn't restart, and there was never any indication of even the shortest power failure, such as when the clocks reset, or a television turning off. After having CompUSA and AEM look at my computer, I've made an appointment to have the electric company come check out my house just to be sure. Perhaps there's something about my computer that is particularly sensitive???? Of course even if that were the case, I would have thought that my UPS would have prevented a restart when it was hooked up the last time.

If you guys want to come up with some type of chart, graph, whatever, we can pin it.

I have my i7 2600 build far enough along that I can use it and put my i7 960 back to stock for awhile. I'll let it go for a few months to see if it happens again.As for the pics in BIOS, I'm not sure how to do that. Are you talking about screenshots of my BIOS settings? I'm still what you might call computer illiterate.......just not as much as I used to be thanks to diving into this overclock (thanks for the motivation by Stephen).

I use a UPS. I'll get Speedfan now. I assume this is a good link? I always ask before downloading ever since I got a bad copy of dxtbmp through a phishing site a couple years ago. I am really impressed with the difference. Going from 3.2 to 4.5 made all the difference in the world for FSX and other resource intensive programs that I use. I had to get to about 3.8 before I noticed enough difference to make it worth overclocking, and then at 4.0 - 4.2 there was no going back, and I finally settled on 4.5 because it was stable and performed better than I had hoped for. I still need to learn about memory, though. I ended up just buying new sticks.

It's definitely random. The first time the computer was just idle, the second time I was searching the web, and the third time I was working in GMax.The first two times this happened was with a different PSU, then the third time was with my current PSU. I don't have another to try, but if need be I can get one. I don't recall the temps when I ran Prime95 either time, but I do remember that the IOH went up to 75 during the first 12 hour run, but barely moved at all during the second 10 hour run after I installed the waterblock.As for testing each item individually, I will probably have to wait until I finish building my new rig. It was nearly a month between the last two restarts. I think I will go ahead and reinstall Win7 today if there's any chance that could help. It is indeed notably faster with the SSD.
