Runway Issue

Featured Replies

Hi,recently downloaded Ray Smith's version of Gatwick airport today avalible from (Download). I have noticed a problem with the default Dash 8, they always get stuck once lined up with the runway and will not take off, then get timed out. I have looked through the airport and cannot find anything wrong with it? Can anyone give me a second opinion?ThanksMatt

The only error of any concern that I found using ADE Fault-finder was the hold-short being too far from the runway at the end of runway 08R (it only reaches the blastpad), but I did also notice that runway 08L had taxi-paths instead of runway paths down the centerline. You didn't say which runway was involved, but you might try changing these paths if runway 08L/26R is where the problem is occurring.

Ray's facilities files are very complete, complex, and rather creative. Those taxiway paths are laid over the runway path that is exactly below them. Fascinating work.Best regards.Luis

Sorry the runways involved was Runway 27L, the Dash 8's get stuck on the end of the runway.PS> Runway 8L/27R is used as a taxiway at Gatwick airport and is only used in case of emergency (which is never)

If I had read Ray's readme file it would be obvious that the runway was actually a taxiway. It appears that the problem (just with the Dash 8) is not a scenery issue. Some more information about the Dash 8's flight plan is needed. Is it default FSX AI traffic? What time of day does it try to take-off? At what % of traffic (airline or GA?) does it appear? This issue might be get better recognition in the FSX forum.

Yes the Dash 8 is the default FSX traffic and I have my traffic bar set to 100%. I just set the time to day at 12.00 noon at it took a while for them to take off so cannot be sure. My guess is about 12.30.

I don't know why anyone would want to set FSX default traffic at 100%. ATC just can't handle it. With these settings, I saw one Dash 8 take-off followed by a glut of aircraft at the hold point (including a second Dash 8), many of which timed-out and disappeared because they couldn't get on the runway due to landing aircraft (many of which had to go-around). I never witnessed any aircraft get stuck and/or disappear after lining up with the runway for take-off.
