July 4, 200223 yr Can anyone tell me if the Microsoft SideWinder Pro will work with Windows XP? I dont really want to have to buy the new SideWider Two if possible! So will it work with Windows XP?Thanks for your help....
July 4, 200223 yr Author As long as it's not the force feedback version, it will work. Don't install the software, just plug it in, it will automatically detect and install it.Cheers,Gosta.
July 4, 200223 yr It also has to be USB. Game port won't work apparently. And both Force Feedback work, except that with the first one, you can't set the "strength" of the forces (i.e. the software isn't compatible).__________________________________________________________EricList of all airlines, aircraft manufacturers and aircraft types recognised by ATC:http://www.geocities.com/eric_2203/orhttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/esearch.php?D...atID=fs2002misc
July 4, 200223 yr Author I got mine to work on a game port as well, you just have to disable the other ports (in 'Hardware Settings'). How do you get the original force feedback to work? I tried, but after a few minutes, all forces disappear. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...Cheers,Gosta.
July 4, 200223 yr Well I have a Force Feedback 2, so I can't help you much. All I was doing was quoting MS knowledgebase. Seems weird that the forces disappear, but at least you know they can work. What MS recommends is just plugging it in as you said before.__________________________________________________________EricList of all airlines, aircraft manufacturers and aircraft types recognised by ATC:http://www.geocities.com/eric_2203/orhttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/esearch.php?D...atID=fs2002misc
July 5, 200223 yr Well I have 3D PRO via port also and it works even better on XP. Just connecter her in and booted the pc, XP detected it right away.
July 5, 200223 yr Author Thanks for the info - I'll just keep trying, there must be some hardware setting I haven't come across yet... ;).Cheers,Gosta.
