Wonderful Scenery - But Leopard Textures?

Featured Replies

I love the 30m canyon scenery (canyonlands_srtm30.zip), but how can we improve on the leopard looking ground texture?See pic...

Must be someone else who thinks the texture is very lacking...Mountains look great but this, can it be changed?

Hi Jack, this appears to be mesh scenery, i.e. it only corrects the elevation data. It does not include new textures, so it looks like you'll have to make do with with the default MS 'Leopard Skin' textures, unfortunately.Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

Is it possible to replace that texture or change it?Here's the real park, be nice to get something closer. Just change the black spots to something lighter would do it.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/35424.jpg

It's just a matter of finding the original FS textures (probably in the scenery/world/texture/ folder) and changing it with an image editing program to something you find more appealing. Keep in mind though that everywhere on earth that uses these textures will change if you do this, which might not be a bad idea if you can significantly improve them.

Looking at that directory I can see why it's been left as is.Maybe one of the pros will improve canyon textures one day...
