October 9, 201015 yr Hey guys,I was looking about on the internet the other day and I came across this. Thermaltake ProWater 880i. Just wondering what you guys think of it, since I never even knew it existed until now. Just out of interest, how would it perform vs the Noctua NH-D14? Better? Worse? Im talking at max performance on an OCd i7.Cheers
October 9, 201015 yr Hey guys,I was looking about on the internet the other day and I came across this. Thermaltake ProWater 880i. Just wondering what you guys think of it, since I never even knew it existed until now. Just out of interest, how would it perform vs the Noctua NH-D14? Better? Worse? Im talking at max performance on an OCd i7.CheersHi Chris,For sometime I owned a Thermaltake BigWater 780e and I must say that I was very impressed by its performance...Looking at the ProWater 880i I think is safe to say that the performance should be greater by the following reasons:1. The radiator is outside the case which improves heat transfer.2. Opposed to the 780e 120mm radiator, the 880i has a 240mm radiator.3. The pump and reservoir are outside the case so manteinance and refilling should be easier. Those were the upsides.... Now the downside... With a 240mm radiator you can't cool an overclocked CPU and a GTX480 in the same loop effectively... Maybe a 360mm radiator will do the trick...The ProWater 880i looks like a good idea... all liquid cooling solutions that I had (pump, reservoir, coolant, hoses, and some cpu waterblocks) were from Thermaltake and after nearly 3 years I have no complains...Liquid cooling in general is always more effective than air cooling in terms of noise and heat...Dexter Intel i9 13900KS @ 5.8GHz - MSI MEG Z790 ACE Gaming - MSI RTX 4090 Suprim X - Corsair 96GB DDR5 6400MHz @ 6600MHz Dominator Titanium RGB - 2x Samsung 2TB 980 Pro + 3x 4TB 990 Pro M.2 SSD Raid 0 - LG 4K 55" OLED C1 - EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 T2 PSU
October 9, 201015 yr That's what I thought, but it not always as good. For example corsairs H50 & H70, although water cooling systems, are still beaten by the likes of the noctua NH-D14 and the cooler master V10. I'm not looking to buy one, just interested in it's performance for future reference.
October 9, 201015 yr ....and the cooler master V10....The V10 has only managed to beat the stock Intel cooler and a few of the cheapest ones. It's nowhere as good as the price and size suggest.
October 10, 201015 yr Not under full load it isn't. Beats it by about 15CActually with a i7-930 at 4GHz under prime95 5-7C is the difference.
