September 14, 200322 yr My Suncom SFS HOTAS just bit the dust, and I am looking to buy some new controllers, and I was wondering about some technical issues. I ordered a CH Products USB 20 btn Yoke, but I want to get a HOTAS as well so I can fly Helos. I was looking at getting a USB Saitek X45. I have WINXP, and my question is, will WINXP and FS9 recognize both of these controllers connected at the same time, and would I be able to fly with the yoke, and use the throttle of the saitek at the same time? Also, would there be any conflicts between the CH products and Saitek programming software?
September 15, 200322 yr Get a TM Cougar instead. It's more akin to Suncom in quality and look and feel than Saitek which looks and feels like a joystick for a Nintendo more than a serious piece of simulation hardware.btw, which part of your Suncom failed and where are you? I've been looking for a spare Talon for over a year now (I do have a spare SFS throttle, want a complete 2nd set just in case).Might be willing to part with one throttle maybe, depending on price offered (this is serious, I would help you out if possible).
September 16, 200322 yr Author Thanks for your kind offer, but the pots in the joystick are worn out as well, and it behaves very erratic, and is difficult to stay calibrated. The joystick is not the Talon, but it is the cheaper version with only one hat switch, and a red light instead of the second hat. One of the mode switches on the throttle broke right off the other day, so the whole set up has had it. I live in Canada, and a cougar here is $500 Canadian. I realize that it is the ultimate, but that price range is way too much. I just paid $200 Canadian for a yoke, so another $500 is out of the question.
