Featured Replies

All,I have released FS9 Configuration v1.3 - it is now available in the AVSim library: http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?DLID=36114Changes in this version:1) You can now edit panel, model, and sound cfg files for each aircraft.2) Install package puts an icon on the desktop for you.Have fun! Thanks to everyone for the positive comments and special thanks to those of you who donated!Regards,http://saltydogfly2.avsim.net/images/avsim_sig.jpg"Ah, the Luftwaffe - the Washington Generals of the History Channel." - Homer Simpson

I was wondering if you were able to implement this feature in the toll.Would it be possible to have it edit several files at once.. for example...I add to all the aircraft this line.max_contrail_temperature = -x where "x" is temp.I like a lot of contrails so I put there -1 I'll change it in winter it's very smoky there when it's cold out on the runway :-lolit's a pain in a neck to do it manually but if it could be done all at once kind of like the utility to remove defoultbank and pitch works. Not a very popular feature i think but who know.Another thing you could do is put a database of all the possible entries for the given selection. For example you open airconfig file and you click on let's say View and add a key instead of just there being a space to type the KEY there could be a pull out list of possible keys to use for this selection so that someone doesn't type other data there that should be written under different section. :-)Just an idea... :-)You could make something like Editting CFG's For Dummies :-) and I mean it with all the respect, I am not new with CFG editting but many people are and sure find your utility very usefull, some cool additions could make every one wanna use it I find if very usefull to find what information is there in given Config file as your toll makes it much more easy to look at the cfg file rather then scroling through a mumbo jumbo of a NOTEPAD file and never being able to find anything :-lolAndy

Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate the comments.1) Global changes to all files - I'll have to think about that one...2) I guess for a database of entries - one could use the comment feature I have added. I had hoped that someone would get a very detailed comment file, which could be shared with everyone...not sure if that is going to happen.I would be more that happy to compile one and include it with the install package - but I am by no means an expert on the CFG files...but I would be happy to start compiling a list.http://saltydogfly2.avsim.net/images/avsim_sig.jpg"Ah, the Luftwaffe - the Washington Generals of the History Channel." - Homer Simpson

KenThank you for the latest version which I will d/l shortly. I wonder if you could consider another amendment, please?Using V1.2 on my system I noticed that when editing the scenery.cfg file your program listed the scenery areas by number - e.g. Area 046 etc. Is there any chance you could show the scenery titles instead, or as well? It would sure be easier for me, at least, to look for Southern Patagonia than examine each area number until I found the one I wanted.Thanks.David

Thanks for the feedback. I'll consider it, but I would suggest using the Search function - that should help you out...:-)http://saltydogfly2.avsim.net/images/avsim_sig.jpg"Ah, the Luftwaffe - the Washington Generals of the History Channel." - Homer Simpson

Hi,I haven't downloaded this version yet (at work now) but use the earlier versions. What I would like to see (it may be in this version) is the program save it's screen position and size...so that when I open it the next time the window and the contents are sized exactly as I left them.Anyone who 'tweaks' FS9 should really appreciate this program...thanks.

Thanks for the feedback - your suggestion is noted. :-)http://saltydogfly2.avsim.net/images/avsim_sig.jpg"Ah, the Luftwaffe - the Washington Generals of the History Channel." - Homer Simpson

Hey Ken,Thanks for developing and sharing this with us. We appreciate it. Of course as a former Fly!er, we expect nothing but the best from you. ;) Though I have not tried this most recent version, I am intrigued with the edit panel and sounds capacity. I would like to use Configurator to alias sounds and panels to others in the directory. If it's already there, Thanks! If it can be done and you add it to a future version, thanks! If it can't be done or you don't add it, thanks anyway, I am happy with what you have already given us.Tony

Hi Tony! Thanks for the comments!I'm not sure what you mean by "alias sounds and panels to others in the directory". Could you expand on this?http://saltydogfly2.avsim.net/images/avsim_sig.jpg"Ah, the Luftwaffe - the Washington Generals of the History Channel." - Homer Simpson

Thanks again Ken. BTW whats your donation email again?

Hi Ken,I have used another freeware program program called FlighZip 2000 with FS2002. My favorite feature was the ability to change panels and sounds of aircraft in the aircraft folder. With it, you select an aircraft, then the program will display all panels and sound folders in the Aircraft folder. I think you could even browse if you wanted to find a panel or sound set that was in a different folder, such as in a specific aircraft folder. You then select the panel or sounds you want for that aircraft, and it made the change in the aircraft config file. You can find FlightZip 2000 here at the Avsim library. I hope that helps.Tony

Thanks next pay ill send some your way :)
