September 17, 200322 yr I've been trying to fly in the vicinity of "Isabel" but, living in Spain, my knowledge of the Caribbean is not as good as it could be and I haven't been able to locate itDoes anybody know what position I should set in the Map to meet up with it please?Cliff
September 17, 200322 yr As of 11 a.m. EDT, the eye of Hurricane Isabel was about 400 miles (644 kilometers) south-southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida. Racartronit means something, but I just can't remember what
September 17, 200322 yr Moderator Cliff,I can't get the real aviation related links right now but try this link:http://www.weather.com/maps/news/atlstorm1...lite_large.htmlThat should give you at least an idea of where the storm is. Hope this helps.Cheers,Petehttp://members.aol.com/pzsoulman/myhomepage/logo.gifAthlonXP2000,AbitKX7-333(latest4in1),512MB/2700SDRAM,WinXP,DirectX8.1,Geforce3TI200(128MB)(Det.30.82),SBlive(WDM5.1.2601.0) I9-13900K, RTX 4090, DR5-6000MHZ, CORSAIR ICUE H150I ELITE, ASUS PRIME Z790-P, THERMALTAKE TOUGHPOWER GF3 1350W, WIN 11
September 17, 200322 yr It's nowhere near the Caribbean. ;)From http://www.nhc.noaa.gov :REPEATING THE 11 AM EDT POSITION...30.0 N... 72.6 W. MOVEMENTTOWARD...NORTH-NORTHWEST NEAR 9 MPH. MAXIMUM SUSTAINEDWINDS...110 MPH. MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE... 957 MB.However, because there are few reporting stations out in the middle of the sea you may not find anything in flight sim. Wait for the time around landfall for coastal reporting stations to pick it up. http://brianc.vip.warped.com/kpwk_sig.gif
September 17, 200322 yr Thanks to all of you. Live and learn. It hadn't occurred to me that we can't pick up weather while far out at sea but of course, now that I think of it, it makes sense.I'll wait till Isobel is reported nearer to land.Cliff
September 17, 200322 yr According to our TV networks ( BBC , ITV ) Isabel will make landfall over Virginia in around 24hrs. Lawrence Ashworth
September 17, 200322 yr I did a flight yesterday from KMIA to Bermuda Using PMDG 737, And inserting the NOAA Hurricane Lat/Lon into the FMS as a waypoint. All I saw was scattered clouds , and wildly shifting 30 Kt gusts.
