September 26, 200322 yr Hi I am wishing to make throttle quadrants that would suit 2 and 4 engine jets. Does anyone know where I could find plans or drawings. I would like to include the thottles, reverse thrusters, flaps, speedbrakes and pitch leves if possible. All assistance is greatly appreciated.regardsdaryl
September 26, 200322 yr If you want to build the whole thing yourself you might start by looking up the pinouts on a standard joystick game controller. I believe the X and Y axis are handled by resistors. So, basically, you need to find which pins to hook the resistors to.Another option is to canibalize a USB joystick.
September 26, 200322 yr Hi DarylI built a throttle box (4 axes) using the wiring out of an old gameport joystick. All you need to do is attach your own linear resistors in place of the joystick pots. Mine consists of three sliders (space limited on my desk) and one rotary pot which is currently unassigned. I also have the two buttons from the joystick mounted on the box and use them as trim controls. There are a couple of articles floating around (possibly on that other well-known Flight Simulation website) which give you wiring diagrams and pinouts if you want to do it. Not including the joystick, mine cost about 10 Pounds to make and has been in service for 15 months now with no problems. If you do have a go, double check all your connections before you plug it in - it would be a crying shame to burn your soundcard / mobo due to a short somewhere.Good luckLungsEdited cos I cant type worth a damn!
