September 26, 200322 yr HiNow i'm totally miffed...Just "upgraded" my geforce 3 ti200 to a radeon 9600pro and to my utter dissapointment, i'm now seeing 5fps LESS when in spot view - from 21 to 16fps !!! with similar results in other views.Initially, the results were even worse with directx 9, restoring to 8.1 did "improve" things though.Though not cutting, edge, i believe my system is no slouch - the mobo and graphics card having full agp8x functionality.Any one got any thoughts as i'm now feeling a bit gutted !!!ThanksGary
September 27, 200322 yr Fs9 is extremely CPU dependent. Upgrading your card wouldn't make that much of a difference as it would in other games, but it still should be better.Try this: Go into Fs9.cfg and where it says DISPLAY.Device, make that line read:DISPLAY.Device.ATI Raedon Win2k/xpWith the Brackets ][ around it of course.
September 27, 200322 yr delete the fs9.cfg and let fs9 build a new one thats what I did after installing my 9600pro because I found to my surprise that fs9 was still running at the same speed as it did with the old gf2..

Have a look at the thread I started regarding this. I didn't see any improvement in performance but then again, I didn't see any decrease in performance. http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=145875#145893You need to compare like with like, suggest you first turn off FSAA and aniso and see how it compares with the GF3. If it's the same, then turn on FSAA and aniso and see how it then compares - there was a marked contrast for me between old and new with these settings enabled.Suggest you use a driver cleaner to get rid of any remaining Nvidia drivers - may or may not improve things (didn't with mine).I came to the conclusion that my problem was a CPU bottleneck, yours does sound different. Though the suggestions I tried may benefit you.Hope this helps
September 27, 200322 yr Author Thanks for the advice...Before installing the new 9600, i ran a program could "nasty file remover" to clean out all of the old nvidia stuff. However, how do i go about checking my registry files for unwanted nvidia data ?Just one thing, i ran 3dmark2001 after installing the 9600 and my score went from about 6900 to 9700 so something has happened !!! however, does 3dmark2001 use opengl as apposed to direct3d ?Maybe i should have made it clearer - i'm actually still running fs2002, not fs9 !!! However, is any of the advice regarding .cfg files still relevant to fs2002 ?Gary
