September 27, 200322 yr Does the rate of weather change slider really do anything? I see no difference no matter where I set it (no change---extreme). The weather and visibility changes instantly from one reporting station area to another. I have not seen realistic gradual changes from one area to another since FS5! If a third party product is required to get this effect correct, what would be the best one out there? Thx
September 27, 200322 yr HI 4PROPSame here very disapointed bacause i were hoping to see the kind ofchanges like those in flight unlimited but no joy.did try the 15 minute updating from the internet, works nice but boggs the system downrunning fs and being online at once.
September 27, 200322 yr I don't think the slider you refer to refer to the idea of 'weather changing from one station to another'. I think the slider refers to the rate of change of the weather pattern around a particular station over a period of time.I've been experimenting with your first problem, and I also think it's the only frustrating thing in the otherwise excellent fs9. The crux, I think, is not only the lack of a gradual change in visibility. The main problem is really how the algoritm of the program interprets the idea of 'visibility'.I think the MS guys know it, and it probably requires an overhaul of the weather system, so maybe it'll come out in fs10. The current visibility model interprets visibility as 'draw the surrounding areas using the visibility dictated by the cooordinates of the plane', but in real life, it's really 'draw the surrounding areas using the visibility dictated by the cooordinates of the plane + accomodating for the visibility of a certain area when its visibility is less than the current visibility'.If the MS guys can solve this, then we'll have a much more realistic rendering...someone correct me if I've got my analysis wrong...;)
September 27, 200322 yr I just did my first IFR flight using real world wx and the arrival wx was ceiling 100 and 1/2vis but I could see the fieldonce est on the loc the whole way down the glide scope. I've got wx sliders set at 10% 3-d clouds and medium on cloud coverage. How do you get a fogged in field?NP
September 27, 200322 yr Author I am not a weather expert but I believe that in order for fog to be present the dew point must be below outside air temperature so try doing this in your weather settings.David
