New fs9 Install to Windows 7.

Featured Replies

Hi all.I have just installed W7 64bit recently and tried to install FS9. I have read many different threads for installing sim into W7 so I picked one method. Install went ok with no errors etc.Rebooted pc and then done a defrag. My install was to create a folder called "ACOF" on to my main C drive which I then installed fs9 into. so the direction was C:\ACOF\FS9 (I hoped)While watching the defrag I noticed that when the defrag was passing ACOF, that the fs9 part of the string was missing. I then went to the C drive and clicked on the ACOF folder only to find that the fs9 folder was not there and all fs9 files had gone directly into the ACOF folder :( All other folders i.e. fs9 cfg is in right place and flight sim files are were they should be.I ran fs9 to see if it would load and to my surprise it all loaded ok. I did a quick flight to make sure all was as it should be and all seemed ok. My biggest concern is that if I go on from here and install my few addons then at some point this may cause some problems.Btw, UAC is turned offAny help would be appreciated

I believe I would correct the path - adding a Flight Simulator 9 folder under ACOF and moving the FS2004 folders etc. into the Flight Simulator 9 folder. It would look something like this when you are done:C----ACOF--------Flight Simulator 9---------------Aircraft, Addon scenery and so on as usual here.Even easier: Just change (rename) the ACOF folder to Flight Simulator 9 - so the actual path is just C:\Flight Simulator 9Then use the free Registry Repair utility from the good folks at Flight1 to correct the path in your Registry.http://www.flight1.c...sp?page=libraryThere may well be some addons which would not install if the "usual" Flight Simulator 9 folder is not found. Edit Added: You would also need to correct the path in the shortcut on your Desktop which starts FS2004. Just edit the "target" box to reflect the correct path to your FS9.exe file.
