PICv2, I don't think it will be the same...

Featured Replies

Don't expect too much from PICv2 if Eric Ernest isn't involved, remember we're dealing with Wilco here. Eric was the backbone of that project not to mention at the time he had just received certification as a real 757/767 First Officer for American Airlines. Not to take anything away from the other developers but Eric had at least 3 years in on designing panels for FS98 before the 2000 version came out. I personally don't think we'll see another PIC of the same quality from Wilco unless the whole team is back on board and Wilco allows the time and space for the product to be done properly. Usually companies are trying to meet deadlines which leaves products still in beta form when they hit the street. Another thing that bothers me is it almost seems the days of merging panels like PIC with great planes like Posky are gone, another fact that hits me as it won't be the same product. Think about how bad the PIC jets were on framerates versus the beautiful merge of Posky 767s with the PIC panel. Maybe Posky should work with the PIC team. I don't trust companies like Wilco to do the whole package right furthermore when the ability is slowly taken away to merge the best features of one package with another great package, we have a serious problem...I don't know how many cared for PIC A320, I didn't.P.S. I posted this in another thread but thought it would be an interesting topic/conversation. I didn't mean this to start a Flaming War against me or others, just an observation for people to think about knowing the tract record of Wilco...

Dill, dude, i've seen your previous attention seeking posts, but this tops them all--this is a bad way to get people's attention. pat

Hi Dillo,1) what makes you think the publisher will be wilco?2) Don't forget that these guys (in whatever combination of personnel) hold the source code. I guess that introducing the necessery modifications to make it work under FS9 is not exactly starting from scratch. (and the same applies to .air files and panel bitmaps)3) as for the external model, PERSONALY, I couldn't care less.my 2p//Mike

Wade has already stated that Wilco will have nothing to do with their newest endevour.I would also like to point out that Eric can be replaced by any real world 767 pilot in order to get correct feadback for the FDE and the fact that PIC767V2 will be the first with network gauges speaks worlds for the gauge programmer, so I definately have to disagree about PIC767V2 being anything less then one would expect from this team. It's really quite sad how everyone was demanding either an update or an all new PIC767 from the WELP team (minus the E now) and once one is announced people are already saying it probably won't be as good as the original and it isn't even out yet!... It's no wonder why so many developers get frustrated and dissuaded from wanting to contribute to this hobby anymore, whether it be freeware or payware as no one is going to get rich doing this.Regards,Van LatendresseYeoDesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer

Just to help me understand, if I'm not mistaken, aren't networkable gauges what Project Magenta is currently offering?

Why would you want avsim to delete it?Is it :A) Because you realise how stupidly prematture your opinion is?:( Because no one is agreeing with you in the slightest and it's making you look pretty bad?I assume it's both, I can only guess what the PIC fanatics over in the PIC forum are saying to you :-rollJohnP 2.53 GHZ512 RAMWINXPGFORCE 4 128MB Ti4600http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/images/logo_ba.JPGwww.bavirtual.co.uk Senior Captain Simflight.com Staff Reviewerhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg

Please do not worry about the PIC product. The very happy folks (like me) who have enjoyed PIC767 for years and continue to do so have faith in Wade and his team they will deliver the goods! As far as deleting this thread...please do not...it is a clear indication of the stupidity of the original post. If you had any serious questions about PIC you could have asked the very friendly and helpful folks at the PIC forum.Good day sir and good by hopefully foreverTony A.

I could care less who agrees with me or not. Avsim usually locks threads when people stop discussing and start arguing and attacking people. I don't see anything wrong with what I've said here and my point of view is just that my point of view. If you agree cool if you don't that's cool too. Who ever wants to sit here and speculate the product is going to be awesome is just as bad as me stating it most likely won't be, problem is we'll all just have to wait and see. I thought we could get a discussion going that would go both ways for the sake of conversation, in the end we all come away with hopes that the product will be good. Any suggestion about merging the new panel with Posky's birds (if that would be possible) would have been cool as well. I know the developers read this form (maybe that's why the air is so tense) so at least they could hear what we would want and what expectations people have for a follow up to such a great design. Without constructive arguments many new ideas wouldn't even be thought of.It seems to me that many hear don't take the time to read a whole post and understand what someone is trying to say (let alone keeping things in context). Can someone show me where the developers said that Wilco will not be the publishing company for the new PIC???This is why I wanted Avsim to delete the post. Now if all you guys want to sit here and call me everything under the sun, feel free to, I still get paid tomorrow and we'll see in the end how PIC will turn out. I

Well it seems you're not reading much either - it's been said COUNTLESS times...WILCO IS NOT PUBLISHING PICv2.So, with that known, any comments you have on it's functionality is speaking directly to the competence of the developers themselves - which is why you're getting the reaction you're getting. You have to be just as willing to accept your role in a miscommunication as everyone else.

Well thanks for updating me on that fact (who's publishing what)... Now can you point me to the link that is either straight from the developers or PICv2's website so we all aren't speculating here (who's going to be on the team etc.).. If all people can give me is "it's been said COUNTLESS times", is no better than what I'm being accused of here. Word of mouth doesn

>I could care less who agrees with me or not. Avsim usually>locks threads when people stop discussing and start arguing>and attacking people.well...golly goo...looks like you just started to attack people:what else would you call your initial post?you attack those guys, you slam them into the ground, and as if that isn't enough, you kick them as well.SHEESH "censored">I don't see anything wrong with what>I've said here and my point of view is just that my point of>view.yes, but the problem lies in the fact that your point of view is usually negative, and written in such a way that people with as much(or as little) braincells as you agree, which is very stupid, imho. >If you agree cool if you don't that's cool too.Who>ever wants to sit here and speculate the product is going to>be awesome is just as bad as me stating it most likely won't>be, problem is we'll all just have to wait and see.i do certainly NOT agree with you.further,i'm not going to speculate, and IF i were to speculate,i would most certainly take into account the fact that the initial product is STILL the one used for comparing all the others.and, there is no problem, except you. >I thought>we could get a discussion going that would go both ways for>the sake of conversation, in the end we all come away with>hopes that the product will be good.sorry, but to me it read as:it will not be good, eric does not cooperate anymore, why waste my time etc etc...in short:a FLAME post. >Any suggestion about>merging the new panel with Posky's birds (if that would be>possible) would have been cool as well. no you just said you don't want to speculate...but what is this called then?>I know the developers>read this form (maybe that's why the air is so tense) so at>least they could hear what we would want and what expectations>people have for a follow up to such a great design.
