October 22, 201015 yr Is anyone using it? How do you like it? I'm about to toss FSPassengers and I'm looking for an alternative. Thanks.I have used it frequently in the past but not in the past 6 months because I have been busy moving so this is all from memory. I liked the program and it has great potential. I thought they were working on some upgrades to it but evidently not. One of the "quirks" (issues) I had with it was getting points deducted for going down too fast. When it's in autopilot, VNAV controls the descent to the ILS glidepath but in FSX, that's not always very accurate. Sometimes the TD (top of descent) is off or the speed of descent is too fast and the aircraft has to descend more than 2000 feet per minute so as to get to a certain altitude before the next waypoint. This causes the passengers to quickly panic and scream and yell and I have to disengage the AP to "save" the situation and explain to the passengers the AP was not functioning properly and I have the plane under control now. I think the developers recommend that you take over manual control of the descent and that's almost a must. Another quirk was the landing. You hit the runway too hard and the passengers get a little upset. I have AP turned on when I'm on the glidepath and turn it off just before touching down plus I turn off the speed controls seconds before landing. The flare looks good and I feel like I'm floating and I don't think I hit the runway hard but the passengers scream and the program tells be afterwards it wasn't very good. I remembered getting very, very irritated whenever the program told me my "good landing" was bad or I heard passengers screaming. Yelling and screaming in front of the computer increases ones blood pressure. I guess this is probably a good "quirk" in that practice makes perfection if I really did land hard. It's nice to hear them clap and cheer when the landing is good though! I use the default settings and I think you can tweak it a bit to allow for harder landings or quicker descents. I think you'll really enjoy the program as I did. There's also an excellent review of XPAX here on AVSIM which I highly recommend you read for more information. Have fun!Best regards,Jim
