September 30, 200322 yr Anyone have any experience with a good addon FMC? I am looking for something that I can add to an existing panel, but can't seem to find what I am looking for.
September 30, 200322 yr Author There is no FMC add-on available now that can be added to an existing panel in FS2004.I believe RealityXP is working on an FMC for their JetLine gauge series, that they say will work in any panel, as to when that will be available ? I don't know.Regards.Ernie.
September 30, 200322 yr The main reason for no FMC being available is due to the fact that the FMC is tied into the MCP and the PFD, not the mention the ND.To create an addon FMC would mean programming all of these in one package-then, what about the Flight model? The MCP needs to know how a plane will react when rolled this way, or when yawed that way...One more factor preventing it' creation (successfully)-There are boeing FMCs, Airbus MCDU's, CRJ FMS's etc etc, all different in very big ways.JohnP 2.53 GHZ512 RAMWINXPGFORCE 4 128MB Ti4600http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/images/logo_ba.JPGwww.bavirtual.co.uk Senior Captain Simflight.com Staff Reviewerhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg
September 30, 200322 yr yes these are "inhibitors" as such, but could be aleviated when going "outside" the FS SDK... :-) Acutally a good example of such a integration with default FS gauges (VOR/EHSI/MCP/EFIS) is the Reality XP Garmin 530. Actually, in the meantime of the release of the Reality XP FMC, you may consider the Flight Line 530XP Garmin. Not an FMC but given how garmin sells it, and thanks to its advanced interface with FS:"Simply put, the GNS 530 incorporates advanced procedure types usually found only in high-end FMS systems"www.reality-xp.comHope this helps!
September 30, 200322 yr Thanks for the replies, gents. I actually have Reality's Garmin 530, and the Jet-line 4 gagues (which I am anxiously waiting the FS9 upgrade). I am aware that they may be comming out with an FMC, but was wondering if anyone else out there had beat them to the punch. Evidently not, so I will have to be patient and wait for Reality. Again, thanks for the replies. Much appreciated.
September 30, 200322 yr Author >The main reason for no FMC being available is due to the fact that >the FMC is tied into the MCP and the PFD, not the mention the ND.Panel independent FMS's to a lesser degree already have precedent in FS. Examples are EFIS98, and Navstar99.The FMS basics certainly can be applied to any panel, making a somewhat generic FMS for use with any panel.Regards.Ernie.

You're waiting for an FS9 upgrade ??That's funny because I'm using my JetLine4 gauges in the FS9 default Lear now.I just made a few registry settings to satisfy it, it seems to work fine for me in FS9.http://www.fsbuild.com/dl/jl4.jpgLet me know if you are interested in giving it a try.Regards.Ernie.
September 30, 200322 yr Hi Ernie,Out of curiosity (and my glaring ignorance) ... what are the gauges on the glareshield and to the left of the MFD respectively? Some neat looking stuff I have never seen. I know the Jetlines ... and have been using them in FS2002 ... but not FS9 ... can you share the secret? ([email protected])Thanks!!!! and
September 30, 200322 yr Not to mention the FSNavigator FMS as well. That's also able to work with most addon aircraft based on the default FS autopilots and even has a VNAV function and the ability to do holds.
September 30, 200322 yr Yes it is working great! It just lack the TCAS (makes FS9 crashes if activated since it is obviously a FS2002 code in the FS2002 version), and won't support having a FS default GPS and an RXP GPS in the RTU Navigation Source selection! But the FS2004 will of course offer the full feature set!
September 30, 200322 yr Author >Out of curiosity (and my glaring ignorance) ... what are the gauges >on the glareshield and to the left of the MFD respectively? Some >neat looking stuff I have never seen. Hi Paul, the black on the glareshield is GPS98. A simple GPS that you can load flight plans into and it will command the autopilot to fly the route/flightplan, you load into it (ie LNAV). Created originally for FS98, but still works perfectly in FS2004. Unfortunately its no longer available, but has been the best $12 I ever spent on an FS add-on.The blue gauge on the left if the Clock2 gauge. Its A modified version of the Beechcraft Baron clock (available at Flightsim.com filename 'clock2.zip'). I use it in panels that don't have a sim rate gauge included, like 767PIC.The green gauge on the bottom is part of the project I'm currently working on. Its too early to say what exactly it is publicly. Right now I'm just using part of it as secondary direct-to gauge. As I don't like using the FS Garmin's direct-to function (to much mouse clicking).>I know the Jetlines ... and have been using them in FS2002 ... but >not FS9 ... can you share the secret? ([email protected])If you still have FS2002 on your machine and you installed the JetLine gauges for FS2002, its pretty easy. Just copy the 'RealityXP_JetLine4.gau' from your FS2002/Gauges folder, to your FS2004/Gauges folder. Then install the JetLine gauges in your FS9 aircraft (ie panel.cfg, etc). They will work by using the FS2002 JetLine database. It will even use the color settings you configured for its use in FS2002.If you do not have FS2002 Installed, then you need to add the registry settings below. Then run the JetLine Installer.Note: *Do not* use these settings if you already have FS2002 Installed !!!! -----------------------------------------------------------Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft Games][HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator8.0]"Zone"="http://zone.msn.com/asp/fs02redir.asp""Version"="8.0""Retail"="1""Launched"="1""PID"="9999-999-9999999-99999""EXE Path"="C:FsFS2002""CDPath"="D:""VersionType"="RetailVersion""InstalledGroup"="34359681309""LangID"=dword:00000009------------------------------------------------------------You can copy/paste the above into notepad, and save the file as .reg. Then double click on the .reg file to insert the new settings into the registry.Make sure you create a dummy FS folder that matches the 'EXE Path' parameter. The folder itself can be empty (include a /gauges subfolder as well). Then run the JetLine installer, it will think you have FS2002 Installed and install properly. After Install, move the RealityXP....gau file into your FS2004/gauges folder. Then its available for use in any FS2004 panel.Note: I have not tried this with AIBridge, etc.Regards.Ernie.
