Eric's F-16 Panel

What folder do I install the contents of the gages zip file? Any help would be appreciated.

I am assuming you are installing the LOCKHEED MARTIN F-16 Fighting Falcon (VIPER) by Kirk Olsson? If so, it is worth also installing the DSB Typhoon as Kirk has configured his Viper to use the same afterburner effect as the Typhoon. The files you need are:USVIPER.ziptyphoon_11.zip...both downloadable from:http://www.simviation.com/and can be found under the manufacturer title of Lockheed Martin.Worth also getting Eric Marciano's highly recommended freeware F-16 2D panel and Upgrade from:http://63.217.28.218/files/1panels/fullf16pnl.zipfullf16pnl.zipF-16_upgrade.zipBoth these aircraft are quite superb and VERY frame rate friendly in FS2004. I believe the F-16 is a complete GMAX creation, not sure about the Typhoon, however. The Typhoon has a somewhat basic VC and little else panel-wise but who cares, this a/c is a wonder to behold when viewed in flight :)Installation requires a degree of concentration on the part of the user but I managed first time! I recommend installing to a temporary folder in the first instance. This will help greatly as you determine where everything should be placed in FS2004.Read the included instructions carefully - could save a lot of heartache!Mike typhoon_11.zip

Thanks for your help Mike. Kirk's F-16 along with Eric's panel are what I have downloaded. Being rather new at simming it seems quite impressive looking. I have been reading a lot of excellent comments on the afterburner effect.

"I have been reading a lot of excellent comments on the afterburner effect "....Especially about the way it automatically switches on and off :-) :-)Rob

Hey Mike,Is there any way to get the Typhoon's afterburner effect without going through the 16MB download of that aircraft? If it is an effect file, could you please send it to [email protected]? As for Marciano's panel update I could not reach it from your link since that takes me directly to the original panel. Do you have the link to the update? Thanks,Mauricio

Both of these planes are quite nice! I just downloaded the new yf-16 and various other repaints of the F-16...awesome aircraft and with a good autopilot it might even become my default "takin a trip" aircraft. It doesn't have ANY shortfield capability though :( Takes probably 2/3 of the runway at KSEA to slow from a 140 knot touchdown...

You can increase the braking effectiveness. Last section of the aircraft cfg file find toe_brake line. Increase that 0.671407 number. I set mine at 0.871407. You might try 0.971407, etc. till you get the brake strength you want. You can also add reverse thrust. Not realistic with the F16; but hey. That can be done by finding the line reversers_available and changing it to =1; then locate min_throttle_limit and set it at -1.500. Now the aircraft not only will have reverse thrust; but will also backup down the runway when they're engaged.
