October 5, 200322 yr When flying in mountain regions, depending on visibility, when you get to a particular altitude, a strange level of fog appears below as a tranparent level surface with some peaks sticking above it. I find it rather destracting. Is there any setting to make it more realistic or get rid of it?
October 6, 200322 yr Author John, it is how FS2004 handles visibility layers. I think for starters there is too much reflection in them among other things. If you use one of the realtime weather utilities, or default real weather, after you have connected and downloaded weather, go to advanced weather settins (within FS04) and eliminate the visibility layer. Of course you lose the visibility effects which I think are great. But I wholeheartedly agree--from above and in mountainous areas it looks like a defect and looks very unrealistic. I know of no other way to improve this but maybe others do. They need to improve on the water reflections too. October 6, 200322 yr Noel, another option would be to lift the top of the visibility layer so it's well above the aircraft. I always do that and it works fine. I am a bit surprised Microsoft let something through that's so obvious, though. This really lets down what is in general a superb weather system. Best regards, Chris
