WideFS and Squawkbox problem

Featured Replies

Hello all,I have two PC's. PC 1 with FS2004 and widefs server modulePC2 with Widefs client and Squawkbox 2.3 version 4.Everything works fine, can connect to server and i am online. Every one can see me but I can't see them!I don't see other aircrafts at all! Even in FSnav when I connect to the multiplayer game I can't see any planes. How can it be that everyone can see me but i can't see them?Does somebody know what's the problem?Tnx!

MikeyMike, When you start a MP session in FS9, do you click "host" (as described in various VATSIM/SB/MP manuals) or "join". The former would be the right thing to do in 2k2, but in FS9 you need to join. I'm only guessing that this is your problem, but choosing the wrong option will cause the problem you describe.best of luck!Paulhttp://www.strontiumdog.plus.com/sbird.jpgOfficially licenced by British Airways plc for use of name and logo[p]AMD XP2800+ Barton, Gigabyte GA-7NNXP nForce2, 1Gig Crucial PC3200 DDR 400MHz, Gainward 128 MB GF4-4200, SB Audigy, 3 x WD Caviar SE[/p]

I run the same system. Works great if you know the secrets! When you click FS9 File, Multiplayer connect, you should see one of the Squawk Box Relay 1.2 sessions. If you don't, type in this IP address and click search again 127.0.0.1.When the SB Relay session is displayed in the FS9 multiplayer form, click "join" the SB Relay session. In FSNav4.6, you should see at least your airplane (assuming you have connected to the SB relay session in FSNav (Options Multiplay connect).Hope this helps.Larry JonesFlorence, MT

I know how to connect. I join a game. I do it as you say above. Connecting is not the problem because I am online and I can communicate with other players and they can also see me. They have me on their screen and on radar. And I also know how to connect FSnav to the game as I always did when running all the programs on one PC.But now with Squawkbox connected via Widefs on other PC everyone can see me on their screen and on radar but I don't see them!Hope someone knows this problem

Have you installed the common shapes library that comes with Squawkbox?Larry

Yes CSL is installed on but PC's for sure

I'm running out of ideas ... If I understand what your system is and what is installed where, I have duplicated your setup and all seems to be working here.Sorry I can't be of help. Maybe someone else can.Larry

I run the same setup but have only used FS2k2 so far with Vatsim so I just wonder if it something to do with SBRelay and the way you are connecting to it?If everything worked OK on one PC then the only thing different I can think of is the way SBRelay connects to the remote PC, but I can't offer any advice other than make sure you have done everything as stated in the SBRelay docs (if it does explain how to use it with 2 PC setup). One last thing. I had exactly the same problem with FS2k2 when I moved from Win98 to WinXP and it was down to my Zone Alarm firewall. If you are running a firewall there is an MSDirectPlay program that needs access through the firewall and running FS on the remote PC does not start this program. If you think this may be a cause reply back here and when I get home I'll post the file name and location so you can tell your firewall to allow the program through.Rgds
