October 8, 200322 yr I am currently flying a American 757 as 1876 from KLAX-KORD and I am using my gps, but I am having some trouble figuring out when I will get into chicago. With the route menu I scroll down the list but my eta doesn't change. It only changes between the segment I fly on. It just can't tell me when I will get to the following waypoints. Now before I thought I could do that but for some reason or another my time change wouldn't take place. So I am wondering if my Fs2004 is corrupted or something has changed in my system. The GPS doesn't seem to work as I thought it did. The instructions also only takes in account one segment or direct entry to the airport and not multiple segments which you would fly on a flight like this.It was not long ago I posted shots of my flight from KPHX to KDFW and the GPS was working somewhat but not perfectly either. I just really don't like this GPS that well and if anyone knows how to install the fs2002 one I would really like to know. I wish fs2004 just kept it the same until they had perfected the new GPS and did some real research on Garmin.FS2004 should have waited until Christmas. I do think it was rushed out to the public a bit tooo sooooon! Also flight dynamics should have been close to fs2002 as well. I just think this sim could have been an A+++++ if:There was backwards compatablity with older fsds as well as fsds2 and GMAX.Flight Dynmaics were more realistic and not so adbrupt.Good working GPSBetter scenery engine that could handle satalite imagery and not blur like with the Mega Scenery of Southern California.I hope Microsoft is looking at this post in the future to improve there product. Like I said before there is a lot of laziness in business these days and without competition, it will continue to go downhill.
October 8, 200322 yr Kurt,I am trying to put myself in Microsoft's shoes while reading your post and I am having problems. On one hand you complain about lack of realism on the other you are flying 757 using GPS (??). Then you want to go back to the most "gamy" GPS that was ever invented - the one in FS2002. Of course the only "good working GPS" is the one that Reality-XP offers. But then I am afraid you will be complaining it is too difficult to use. Go figure .... *:-*Michael J. Michael J.
October 9, 200322 yr I am trying to put myself in Microsoft's shoes while reading your post and I am having problems. On one hand you complain about lack of realism on the other you are flying 757 using GPS (??). I use the GPS like the Flight Management Computer. I do believe the 757 does have those. Since there is a lack or at least hard to find FMCs at this point my options are to use the GPS or plan the trip VOR to VOR.GPS ETA time just doesn't syncroynise with the local time. For instance I was coming into KORD and it said I will be in at 8:30pm lc what ever that means. Now in reality I was coming in at 10:30pm two hours ahead. Then you want to go back to the most "gamy" GPS that was ever invented - the one in FS2002. Actually I would like a good FMC, but the older GPS in some ways was similar to this. I like functality first, then realism. It is nice to have both though I might add.Basically I like to see the appoximate time of flight, time between waypoints etc. etc. in a GPS like you would see on a FMC with many other items.Of course the only "good working GPS" is the one that Reality-XP offers. But then I am afraid you will be complaining it is too difficult to use. Go figure .... *:-*I haven't purchased it yet so I don't know. I imagine though that the manual has to be better than the default manual that came with MS. I hope it wouldn't be difficult to use, but that is why there are manuals and forums.I am sorry I don't want to cause a flame war but I think it is important to get one's point across. I just am having trouble with the reply like with the response "you are flying 757 using GPS (??)."Now I guess I should have backed up a little about bashing MSFS but they sometimes have made mistakes and don't always want to please customers. They do have a reputation about that with them.I perhaps should have said it in a kinder fashion so I am sorry for that. Regards,
