Better performance under FS2004 common...?

Featured Replies

I'm very happy with the performance of FS2004 on my system (able to max sliders and fix frames at 30fps at 1600x1200x32 - system p4 2.8, 1GB, 9800pro).However, going back to FS2002 to run some aircraft, I don't get the same sort of performance. Is this common? I would have expected the older title to perform even better considering the simpler weather etc but no.Under FS2004, if I select the first training flight and view the aircraft from outside at the given settings, my fps doesn't waver below the pegged 30fps. If I unlimit the frames then they rise to about 70 or so.Under FS2002, the same training flight, max settings, fps pegged at a lower 25fps, I get wavering frames down to 21/22. If I unlimit the frames they don't go above 30.Now, either the improvement with FS2004 coding is great or something else is going on. DX9 optimisations?Any ideas?
