Strange problem with the new 3.8 drivers!

Featured Replies

Overall, I am very pleased with the results from the new 3.8 Catalyst drivers. However(and there is always an however) I noticed that, especially when banking, the distant textures blur and then slowly sharpen up. This consistently happens at all different settings. I currently have AA and AF at 8x and 16x respectively in the ATI control panel.Just wondering if anyone has noticed this and knows of a solution? Thanks a lot,Howard

Are you running your settings/display/hardware: filtering on Trilinear? I tried all three settings. No Filtering resulted in less color, less detail and some texture blurring. Bilinear filtering resulted in a bit more color, clearer textures and less blurring. Trilinear filtering was by far the best option. Great colors, clear textures and very seldom do I see a texture blurred, even in the distance. I'm running 4xAA & 16xAF (Performance). Make sure that your texture complexity is maxed out. That makes for a big improvement too. I haven't switched to the 3.8s yet. Still running the 3.6 omegas.

I am running with Trilinear filtering and I did not notice that particular problem with either the 3.6 or 3.7 drivers.
