October 10, 200322 yr VSync on Or OFFFHow should that be set in my Radeon 9600 Pro128 VCard.By turning it on will it help me in the framerate area????Thanks for your help
October 10, 200322 yr Hi,I always set mine to off and is what I recommend, although others may, perhaps evenly strongly, suggest otherwise. Here is somewhat of an explanation I found on the web. They recommend to setting it to 'Always On', although they do say that having it always off will result in faster rendering of Frames, although always off can lead to image tearing. But I've don't recall having ever experienced image tearing with having it off. It's just my personal preference to have it off. Please read the following for a little more on the setting, and perhaps someone here will come along and give an even better explantion.http://www.techspot.com/tweaks/radeon/radeon-3.shtmlRegards,Jim
October 10, 200322 yr VSync just makes the framerate not go past your monitor refresh rate. Gonna need at least 60+ fps to pull that off LOL. In FS it won't matter, wont gain any fps, wont lose any fps. This helps though in first person shooter games, where fps does matter. On those games theres more fps than the screen can draw at a time and theres image tearing on the screen. Image tearing just happens if the videocard is humming along faster than the monitor can draw and you see part of the next frame. Thats where VSync comes in handy, it makes the videocard hold a set fps, depending how fast your monitor updates, so no image tearing will happen. If your monitor is set to refresh at 85Hz, your max fps would be 85fps.Usually on most games, you would never notice, even if the fps is sky high.
October 10, 200322 yr I have always left it off, and I have never had any of the problems that it can possibly cause. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
October 10, 200322 yr I recently turned mine to always off. I Notice no difference in IQ and no tearing. No controller lag either. She just runs faster which is a good thing, IMHO.
October 10, 200322 yr Well, it was holding my framerate back:http://www.x-plane.org/users/mgdbottled/FS9CRJ12.jpg
