November 2, 201015 yr Hi GuysGot a bit of a problem with ASE. I've just built a nice new i7 machine to run FSX on which is running W7 64bit.. I have ASE installed on my client machine which is running XP 32bit. To get both machine to talk to each other I've had to create a log in on my XP machine. Now when I try to open ASE it's asking me for a licence number, I guess because it thinks I'm a different user.. although I still have my licence DLL in the HiFi folderIs there a work around for this?RegardsSteve Steve Brunsden
November 2, 201015 yr Hi,ASE must be installed and run from the administrator account on your computer and that .dll file has nothing to do with this.Make sure both computers belong to the same workgroup.I have a Win7-XP network combination and I know that things can be networked just fine! There are plenty of directions "out there" for getting this done.
November 3, 201015 yr Author Thanks for the polite kick up the arse Jim..lolI've got ASE up and running now on version 633... I've been throught the documentation and set up simconnect and tested it as per the instructions..I'm getting an error line when I start up ASE telling me that it cannot write wxstation.bin to C:\users\[me]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX. It says's access is denied, although when I look in there, there seems to be a wxstation file present with the correct date and time (24K). To check this I'm tried copying a notepad file across from my XP desktop to the above directory which confirms it is write protected. I cannot find anyway to change the write protection of this file. Whatever I do it reverts back to write protection. I've been (Out There) and can't find anything on the web that works either!!It does not look to me like ASE is writing the data to FSX as I can't see the weather updating. To test this, I've positioned my plane at EGBB in FSX and been to the report screen on ASE and checked the box 'Lock to closest'. It remains at the default KSEA.I've run out of idea's now on how to get this working.. I don't really want to install it on my i7 machine as I want to keep my overhead as low as possible..I'd be greatful if anyone has any idea's on resolving this.CheersSteve Steve Brunsden
November 3, 201015 yr Hi,1. Go to the App Data folder right click, properties, security tab and see if under your account name all the Allow boxes are checked On.What happens if you run the AI Traffic Utility from the SDK on the client with FSX running on the server?
November 4, 201015 yr Author I've got ASE running now with FSX. I did not realise you needed to start things in the right order for the two progs to link up..I've looked in the AppData folder and changed the security settings so it allows my user name... I'm still getting the same message when I start up ASE tho..What does the wxstation folder do ??CheersSteve Steve Brunsden
