Aivlasoft Charts
Hey Guys I used to use PDF charts all the time and like you built up a good collection of them.. I also used to use the Navigraph charts... I've been using EFB now for a couple of years and have found that I don't use my PDF's anymore... The OP is right there are a few issues pop up with charts here and there but in my experience you will find 95% of the airports you fly into will be fine.. The main reason for my post here is to tell you about their support... If you do have a problem they are really good at sorting it out... I've had 3 or 4 problems with airports I've flown into in the last couple of years. Their support is excellent and very quick... Even if it's a Navigraph Data issue, they will go off and sort it out for you... It's a nice piece of software in my opinion Cheers Steve

Pushback / Start Procedure
What is the correct procedure when pushing back from the gate? I recall when I flew the 767 you could start number 2 engine during the push, but you had to wait until the push was finished and the brake re-applied before starting number 1, due to the amount of thrust developed by the engines I believe.. Is this procedure the same for the 737 or are we able to proceed with the number 1 engine start sequence whilst still being pushed by the tug?? Cheers Steve

NGX and Aivlasoft EFB flightplans
I'd agree with the previous post, there is a small error in the Navigraph data for PMDG... I've had incorrect turns before a couple of times at other airports..In my opinion the first waypoint after takeoff... I-LVR (D1) has got a right hand turn tag where clearly it should be a tagged for a left hand turn, that's the only problem... I would report it as an error on the navigraph forum so they can change it on the next airac cycleCheersSteve

Need some advice from -600 and -700 users
I've been flying the 736 on British Airways Virtual routes and it's a joy to fly.The PMDG configured 800 with 174 pax is still quite agile.. When you fly a 738 in european configuration (i.e. Thomson/Ryanair) with 189 pax on board, then you notice the difference between that and the 736.My typical load configurations on the 736 are 117 pax with a total TL of 12,470 kgs. Climb rates are outstanding, it seems to use a lot less fuel in the cruise and as Ryan says descents are cool..... I flew into LGTS earlier today where to comply with the STAR I needed to descend at 2300ft/min, I only needed to use a tiny bit of speed brake a couple of times just to pull the speed back a little..The 600's a good one.. I would recommend it..CheersSteve

New build ASUS P6X58D-E or Premium?
I'm running an i7-950 on a ASUS P6X58D-E. It's overclocked to 4.2ghz in a HAFX case with a noctua cooler and have no temperature issues. The highest I've ever got it up to is 67deg on OCCT testIf you don't need 2 x GB LAN then i would save your money and go for the regular one.. If your going to clock it make sure you get some good RAM 6-8-6-24 timings are good, Mushkin is the bestCheersSteve

ASE Licence Key
Lifter191 replied to Lifter191's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumI've got ASE running now with FSX. I did not realise you needed to start things in the right order for the two progs to link up..I've looked in the AppData folder and changed the security settings so it allows my user name... I'm still getting the same message when I start up ASE tho..What does the wxstation folder do ??CheersSteve

ASE Licence Key
Lifter191 replied to Lifter191's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumThanks for the polite kick up the arse Jim..lolI've got ASE up and running now on version 633... I've been throught the documentation and set up simconnect and tested it as per the instructions..I'm getting an error line when I start up ASE telling me that it cannot write wxstation.bin to C:\users\[me]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX. It says's access is denied, although when I look in there, there seems to be a wxstation file present with the correct date and time (24K). To check this I'm tried copying a notepad file across from my XP desktop to the above directory which confirms it is write protected. I cannot find anyway to change the write protection of this file. Whatever I do it reverts back to write protection. I've been (Out There) and can't find anything on the web that works either!!It does not look to me like ASE is writing the data to FSX as I can't see the weather updating. To test this, I've positioned my plane at EGBB in FSX and been to the report screen on ASE and checked the box 'Lock to closest'. It remains at the default KSEA.I've run out of idea's now on how to get this working.. I don't really want to install it on my i7 machine as I want to keep my overhead as low as possible..I'd be greatful if anyone has any idea's on resolving this.CheersSteve

ASE Licence Key
Hi GuysGot a bit of a problem with ASE. I've just built a nice new i7 machine to run FSX on which is running W7 64bit.. I have ASE installed on my client machine which is running XP 32bit. To get both machine to talk to each other I've had to create a log in on my XP machine. Now when I try to open ASE it's asking me for a licence number, I guess because it thinks I'm a different user.. although I still have my licence DLL in the HiFi folderIs there a work around for this?RegardsSteve

Is this worth it?
Lifter191 replied to Barthandelus's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcI agree with mad dog the most cost effective thing for you to do first would be to overclock what you already haveIf you want an increase in performance then your going to have to look at i7 920 or i7 930 cpu use a BIG cooler and something like an Asus X58 motherboard with some high speed ram and overclock up to or slightly over 4 ghz..If you want a significant increase in performance and have a big budget look at i7 980X with a GTX480 graphics card that will give you good fps and a smooth flightCheersSteve

AirSimmer A320 RELEASED
There's a poll on the Airsimmer site where 81% of people have voted to wait till the advanced version arrives..I would expect by this time next week, there will be an upgrade path as I'm sure the guys at Airsimmer will want to turn that sort of percentage into sales.Zoya has already said she may offer an upgrade path, after looking at those percentages I'm sure she willCheersSteve

ASA WideFS Startup Error Messages
Hi GuysI've just come off the fence and bought ASA... It's brilliant..I've got a couple of set up problems (I think). I'm using FS9.1 on XP 64 Bit I've been getting a few OOM's recently which I think is due to all the super detailed UK2000 Extreme airport's I'm using so I decided to move my ASA installation onto my other computer. It's networked to my main FS9 box. I've mapped X: drive to my main FS9 folder and Z: drive to the folder in my documents\Flight Simulator Files where all the flight plans are stored.... I'm using WideFS and FSUIPC 3.907 both of which are registered copies ... I'm using Radar Contact, Flightsim Commander and Topcat on my other box with no problemsI'm using Build 406 of ASAI've made the edits to the registry as detailed in page 54 of the manualWhen I start ASA I get a message 'We are unable to locate required folders/files please browse to your FS9 Application Data.....' I then select Z: drive and click okay... I then get another message saying 'You did not select proper users\application data\microsoft\FS9 Folder. Proper ASA operation is not possible please close and restart'.This is where it starts getting strange...I've got FS9 running and just allow ASA to download the current weather... I then get a message in FS9 'ASA is beginning initial weather depiction...please wait'. This makes me think it's actually running okay... After I've loaded a flight plan into ASA I then get another message in FS9 saying...' ASA Initial weather depiction complete'...The weather looks like it's loading even though ASA is telling me it's not working..I'm using XP Pro 64 in the FS box and XP 32 Bit Home on my other boxDo you think it's setup okay and giving me false error messages or have I set it up incorrectly?????Your advise would be appreciatedCheersSteve

Upgrading from 32bit to 64bit operating system
Lifter191 replied to Lifter191's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcThanks for taking the time to write this very detailed explination and writing it in a way that even an old guy like me can understand.. I've tried the 3gb switch and it seems to have helped... My 2 x 2gb sticks of RAM arrived this morning so I'll be swapping them out with the 2 x1gb sticks I currently have installed.. I'll give it a couple of months to see how it goes and then maybe upgrade to XP64Just a question on my new RAM voltagesMy original sticks were Kingston KVR800D2N5K2 rated at 1.8 Volt. My BIOS RAM voltage is set to Auto and it is was using 1.85 Volts for theseI just fitted my new sticks which are Kingston KHX6400D2K2/4G and are rated at 2.0 volt. I've just checked my BIOS and it reports the new sticks as taking 1.85 volts still set to auto... Should I change the BIOS setting manually so the new RAM gets 2 volts ???I'm using an ASUS M2N68-AM motherboardCheersSteve

Upgrading from 32bit to 64bit operating system
Hi GuysI've just upgraded my hardware to AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ with 2 Gig of RAM and an Geforce 9800GT 512mb graphics.I'm currently running XP Home 32 Bit..I fly FS9 mainly Level D767 with UT Europe 76m European Mesh and lots of addon airports.Since my upgrade I've been getting lots of OOM's. The only sensible way to cure this I believe is to upgrade to 4 Gig of RAM and use a 64 bit operating system..The problem I have is most of my addon's are payware and it will be a nightmare to reload everything and find all the registration keys...If I buy XP 64 bit can I load it over XP Home 32 bit without going through the trauma of reloading everything else ???CheersSteve

FS9 CTD
Hi GuysJust a thought.... If your using UT Europe what version do you have? There's a patch to version 1.11 on their site... I quote their documentation:Issues Addressed in version 1.11This patch only makes a very small change to the 'Ultimate Terrain Europe Setup and configuration Tool'. The change was necessary to fix out-of-memorysituations that may appear under the following conditions: The user has the 'Add Industrial/Commercial Landclass' features turned on And the user is flying with sophisticated aircraft packages that have a high memory usage. And, the user is making long distance flights across EuropeYou can find the patches on http://www.scenerysolutions.com/Downloads.htmlI have no connection with the above company... I'm having the same problems as you guys and will be giving this a try.If your using version 1.0 don't forget to upgrade to version 1.1 firstHope this helpsCheersSteve

Replacement Graphics Card Software Install Sequence
I've just ordered a nice new XFX 9800GT XXX 512mb Graphics card for my FS9 rigWhilst I know how to change a Graphics Card, I'm unclear on the sequence of events I need to perform to load the new driver software successfully. I've read that I need to remove all traces of my old driver software..The card I will be taking out is an XFX 7600GT 256mb card.I know that I need to remove my current driver software from the add/remove programs in control panel... I think I then need to run a piece of software to completely remove any trace of any remaining bits... What this software called? What's the most recent and stable nvidia driver software version that will work best on FS9?I've used nhancer to improve my flight sim graphics in the past and currently have version 2.3.2 installed is the still a good version to use?Is there a set of recommended settings in nhancer for this graphics card.... I'm just looking for a basic set that I can then fine tune my own system tooMy current system is:AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Brisbane 3.1ghzAsus M2N68-AM2 Gig of DDR2 Kingston RAMThanksSteve
