October 15, 200322 yr First of all, I want to add my own "Thanks!" to the RealAir team for their fantastic C172. I actually haven't flown FS2004 for a few months because I was waiting on their C172 update, and I was thrilled to see that it was available. It flies great, and will be my default aircraft. On that note, I have a question about the trim control in the C172 virtual cockpit. There is a knob beneath the panel that rotates as trim is adjusted, but I don't see any way to tell when it is centered. There is a marker on the left for takeoff configuration, but there doesn't seem to be a mark or detent on the knob itself to line up with this.I like to stay in the VC rather than going to the 2d panel, so it would be nice if I could adjust for takeoff without switching views. I'm hoping maybe there's something obvious that I am missing...
October 15, 200322 yr You only need really to see the trim marker once (btw our Cessna doesn't quite need as much up trim for take off as the default).Once you are in the air, you don't need to see the trim indicator. After all in a real aircraft you simply trim until the stick force is neutralised, so it's a "feel" thing. I don't think the FS VC (which is the same as ours except for the panel colour) has a trim indicator, so you're not missing anything!Regards,Rob Young - RealAir Simulations Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
October 15, 200322 yr Author Yeah ... I don't need the trim indicator once in flight ... I know it's a pretty minor niggle, but I love the clickable VC's and hate having to pop out to the 2d panel during the checklist just to make sure that the trim is centered. I was thinking maybe there was some sort of mark on the VC trim control that I wasn't seeing. I know that your 172 uses the default VC.Oh, well. No matter. Thanks for the great update to the 172!
